Zambrotta: Juve are the greatest Wednesday 5 October, 2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gianluca Zambrotta believes this could be one of the best Juventus sides of all time and reveals why he snubbed Chelsea.
“This Juve team can be compared to some of the greatest in this club’s history, including the line-up with Zinedine Zidane and Pippo Inzaghi,” said the versatile Italian international.
Many have suggested that the midfield partnership of Emerson and Patrick Vieira has left the Bianconeri with no weak links and they are currently the only side in Europe to have a 100 per cent record in both the Champions League and domestic competition.
There are now reports that Fabio Capello is in negotiations to extend his contract with the Turin giants until 2009 and take on a future position as director.
“It is possible seeing as the club and Coach have the same views on football, while we all have great faith in Capello,” explained Zambrotta.
Part of Juve’s success is down to their canny transfer dealings and, despite multi-million pound offers, David Trezeguet, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Gianluigi Buffon and Zambrotta have stayed at the Delle Alpi.
“I was very happy and flattered to hear that Chelsea and Milan were interested in me, but I have signed until 2010 and will stay in Turin,” confirmed the left-back.
