I have access to her email always have had. I read your email 'Still alive' on may 18th. That title made me cry actually. Shame you had to lie about it being responded to. Thanks.

Well, because I don't know whether she's dead or not, I'm not going be as harsh as swag was. After all, it could be true. It's just that you have lied before and that it's pretty easy to lie on an internet forum. You have to admit it's pretty unlikely that River is actually dead. And what caused her death?

Not really no. But you have to admit it's logical people are sceptical about it here. Anyway, if River's dead, I'm sorry and may she rest in peace. If she's not, I just don't care.

Andy, how do you react when people get their kicks on this forum when people post: "GOALL!!! Cannavaro. 1-0 Juve!!!" in CL posts? We've had calls for their heads here with suggestions that they be banned.

If Emma wants to play the game of entertaining herself and others with tales, that's great. But manipulating others who interacted with someone here really crosses the line of good taste.

I had a schoolmate die from a rare bone disease when I was in high school. And we went through the whole debriefing thing with counsellors and the like.

And it's true. Everyone reacts to death at that young age differently, no question. But the reactions do fall into different archetypes.

For example...

There's the concerned friend reaction who needs to share with others that are also very concerned: "Did you hear that River died? It's a tragic story. Here's the article from the local paper on what happened. I'd like to put together a gesture of heartfealt condolences to the family -- anyone want to pitch in so we can send a card and flowers to River's family?"

There's the acquaintance who wants to inform those who knew her first: "I know some of you out there got to know River. I learned that she died tragically recently...."

There's the person who has a difficult time dealing and processing with the situation. They don't mention her name at all, PERIOD.

There's the friend who is emotionally hurt: "Something tragic happened to River, but I just can't talk about it. It's too depressing."

But what there isn't in all slices of this is the "Oh, River is off this forum and did this. <couple weeks later> And by the way, you guys had this thing for River and blah blah blah. <a few months later> River was real but this wasn't. <next day, separate thread> Oh, and by the way she died. That's all."

That archetype just doesn't exist.

And even worse, when questioned about it, Emma was not forthcoming with answers or details to anyone. Not that she owes them to anyone. But treating it so nonchalantly in passing, so casually... especially with many others who interacted with her here and asked about her whereabouts.

And so when I called her on it, she reacted defensively ... which, if anything, is the classic bad acting response of someone who might be feigning a related death for attention.

Funny how such a significant even never happened to be covered in the papers. Never got publicized somewhere and just slipped under the rug for months. And then suddenly pops up outta nowhere as a casual mention.

The death of someone that young is never handled casually. Not by the people who know them. Not by the media. Not by anyone.

I'm only reminded of the lyrics to "Bad Penny" by Big Black:

Ought to know what I liar I am
Ought to know me by now
Don't curse me for my nature
Don't blast me for my wrongs
Just a bad penny
I always come back to you
Just a bad penny
Just a bad penny
I always come back to you
Should have known you couldn't trust me
As far as you could throw me
You couldn't throw me too far
Just a bad penny
Couldn't throw me too far

Emma, you're as tough as nails. I would never expect you to feel truly intimidated. (And it certainly couldn't be by me.)

That said, truthfully, you do make this place interesting and I hope you continue to post here.

Its the old story of ·Peter and the wolf".....

The problem with systematic lying is that it compromises your right to tell a true...

Does River dies??? really ? or it was Claire ? Or it was Emma, that really was River?? you see, everything is possible...but very unprobable.....

Actually she only really lied in that thread, and that wasn't even a lie. She asked you fact or fiction. Apart from that, I don't recall her lying but I haven't seen it all.
