Surely worth taking a bit of a gamble on, he is a very promising talent that so far seems to have been molded to a style of play that does not put much emphasis on the defensive side of his game, but that could sure potentially change and improve under a different mindset such as playing in Serie A for a manager that can help him further develop all aspects of his game, otherwise it’s not like we have that many better alternatives to choose from on the market atm.

A good RB isn't a luxury. We don't have one expext an ancient Danilo.
A RB is expected to be able to perform defensively, and it sounds like this guy certainly can't. We don't have the defense and midfield to cover for this flaw, hence why I call him a luxury despite what he provides going forward.

This is a luxury player, and we cannot afford luxuries right now.

I'm sure if the club feels he doesn't Motta's tactics then we won't sign him

We do still need a fullback though, right?

My only issue is that if we're buying we've gotta be sure we're futureproofing the position, and between our scouting and coaching departments we really suck at getting promising players who actually turn into worldies. How good is this guy now, without considering future potential?

He is an attacking fullback, his main strength is offense, doesn't mean he can't defend at all, it's just not his strength. Top football is filled with players of his style and has been for long time.

He was top 3 fullbacks in la liga last season with Girona, is owned by Man City and Real Madrid one of the clubs closely interested him to understudy Carvajal.

He is young but defenitely has quality.

I think we definitely need a new quality fullback, so might as well focus on making it a long term plan with one of the youngest and most promising RB’s out there, he is suspect defensively atm but has plenty of room for improvement and playing in Seria A could sure help him further develop his overall game.

Anyway i think there will be more competition for this guy and he won’t be cheap either, we’ll need him to choose us over anyone else to actually stand a chance.

Agree 100%. You always gamble on 22 y/o wingback who had 8 assists and 1 goal in 24 starts. Thats the sort of players we need. 2013-2015 Lichtsteiner numbers
