Xabi Alonso not going to Juventus
The Mirror are claiming that The Old Lady are all set to launch a £15m bid for the Spaniard. His agent Ignacio Ibanez, however, has rubbished the story in an interview with Calciomercato.it:

“I don’t know anything about these reports.

“It is true that we negotiated his possible move to Juve last year, but we are talking about last summer. I have not spoken with Juve directors since.

The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Since Shevchenko’s agent turned out to be entirely ficticious, it’s harder to trust quotes like this. Alonso has been consistently been linked with Juve all year, and we think he could still head to Italy in the summer.

Well i never thought we'd see this again to be honest. I'd almost prefer him over diego, cassano and Ribery. He's performed so well this season, which makes it even less likely Liverpool would sell him.

Ugh this is SO ANNOYING!!

Can anyone do the math for this? I want to see how much we threw away for Poulsen this year.

Lets say we sign Alonso for X amount of dollars, probably assuming it will be the same amount as what they wanted last year. So we sign him, and then we calculate the money we literally threw away for Poulsen last summer. That is depressing.

I am thinking I would prefer Diego at this point for two reasons:

1.) get us out of the 442
2.) marchisio: younger, potential and he is already our project for the future.

Xabi would be a great partnership with Momo obviously but then we would need a LM and RM and fix our defense. We go to a 4321 or a 4312 and our midfield is already strong without as many additions.

2. Signing Alonso would mean Ranieri is gone (in all probability).
Not sure if I understand that point.

4. We need to strengthen the defence if we are to play Alonso in a 4-4-2.
Don't we have to strengthen the defense anyway, no matter who we sign?

Even if we sign another DM we still have to strengthen the defense.

I don't know about Poulsen. He's a good player, but obviously he hasn't found his feet yet here. Now that Zanetti is back and with the way Marchisio has developed he is going to find it harder to play ( the other position is Sissoko's)

I think he might fancy a change of environment. He's still at an age to make him an attractive option for many teams out there.

I doubt Arsenal would want Tiago. They have a player who is 10 times better and more complete than Tiago in that position.

on the other hand they need a defensive midfielder badly.

Sagna for Poulsen plus $ and Diego for Tiago plus $?
