I dont know where the Xabi Alonso transfer stands, but never listen to goal.com and media bullshit, only reason websites like goal.com are ever right about stories is because they make up a story for every possible situation. Crouch Exit To Spark Anfield Spending Spree?
Peter Crouch’s impending departure from Liverpool will finally allow the Merseyside giants to start their summer spending in earnest, according to The Sun…
Liverpool’s official website revealed yesterday that the club had accepted an ₤11million offer for Crouch from Portsmouth, with the deal expected to be completed in the next few days.
The beanpole hitman’s return to the South Coast will leave a noticeable hole in Liverpool’s forward, as it would leave only Andriy Voronin or the inexperienced Ryan Babel to cover for Fernando Torres (if we assume Dirk Kuyt has found his niche on the right).
And even if Babel takes up a more central role – which many perceive to be his natural one – that would leave a sizeable hole on the left of the Reds’ attack, which Yossi Benayoun has limited success filling last season.
Rafa Benitez had been told by club co-owner Tom Hicks that he would have to sell before he buys, which leaves Xabi Alonso straddling the exit at Anfield while Gareth Barry has well and truly slammed the door behind him at Aston Villa.
But Alonso could yet stay if Benitez chooses to use the Crouch sale to fund the Barry deal, as the ex-Valencia boss has stated that both could play together due to the latter’s versatility and left-footedness.
Of course, if Alonso should move to Juventus for around ₤16million as supposed, ₤18million-priced Barry would simply replace the Basque playmaker in central midfield while the Crouch money would be put towards genuine left-sided attackers.
Valencia winger David Silva is right at the top of the wish-list, although his ₤20million price tag might require additional sales on the Reds’ part, which could see Benayoun and/or Jermaine Pennant offloaded.

I think this is good news as they will then get barry and hopefully that will push alonso out of there. Cause their central midfield is way to packed mascherano, lucas, gerrard, barry, and xabi would be way to much competition that one has to leave. According to reports in Italy, Juventus are set to drop their interest in Xabi Alonso after growing frustrated at the lack of progress during negotiations with Liverpool.
The Bianconeri are well known to be in the market for a top class centre midfielder, and they have been heavily linked over the past several weeks with Roma’s Alberto Aquilani, Napoli’s Marek Hamisk, Inter’s Dejan Stankovic, as well as Sevilla midfielder Christian Poulsen.
With deals for Aquilani and Hamsik impossible, and Stankovic also unlikely due to fan protests, Alonso had emerged as Juve’s new first choice signing.
The Old Lady have been attempting to negotiate a transfer fee with Liverpool for the player, but have grown increasingly frustrated at the failure to reach a compromise, with the Merseysiders said to be demanding €20m and Juve only prepared to pay €15m.
Over the weekend Ranieri stated that Alonso was not the only centre midfielder that Juve were interested in, and according to latest reports in Italy, the club have become so fed up with proceedings that they are ready to end their chase for Alonso.

But i was thinking,maybe Ranieri considers Giovinco as our main creative force for next season.With Stankovic he'd get a very versatile midfielder,and perhaps Giovinco would be drafted into the center with Sissoko,as Stankovic and Camo cover the flanks,along with Nedved.Maybe Ranieri is willing to give Giovinco more creative and playmaking responsiblity than we all expect.This could be one reason behind him not wanting Alonso,if that is the case.

maybe but looking at the reports of the last week I believe we will go for Poulsen- Stankovic instead of Xabi as cm

Seriously IF Xabi decides to stay i think it's a big mistake from proffesional point of view.
why?
because he wants to win the league title,and i'm sorry Enron and all Liverpool fans here,but Liverpool just won't!they can't do it!when Chelsea,Man utd and Arsenal there they can't take it from them they always 4th behind,and no reason for this to change this year.
And ofcourse Xabi will see alot of bench there,for sure he is not gonna be their star/leader player.
Here in Juve he can be that star/leader player who will be a starter for sure,who will lead this hungry & well challenged team both in the league and in Europe.
Just 3 weeks ago he was speeking highly about Juve from the spanish camp,so i think he does realise what opportunity is lying ahead of him.
