exactly, so need to worry just yet...the CL prelims are still quite a while away :)
Damn I cant wait to see Juve back in CL :). I hope it's gonna be a good season. I wont judge the signings till I see them play for us. We obviously aren't the mighty Juve of a few years back and it's sad that we have an amateur board of directors, because if the money that was available from last summer and this one is/was spend wisely we'd be in a lot stronger position in serie A and CL. But this board is really sticking to the 5 year rebuilding plan it seems. It's too bad, but whoever arrives, Alonso,Stankovic,Poulsen or someone else I will support him and hope he can help us achieve great things.

Alonso Distances Himself Further Away From Juventus

The Old Lady has been keen on the Spanish international but they have failed to reach an agreement with the Merseysiders over his fee.

The Reds have held out for as long as possible in an attempt to scupper interest from the Serie A giants and it seems to have worked as Alonso has declared that he wants to stay in England.

“Everyone treats me so well here,” said Alonso.
“There are a few stories over a possible transfer but I would prefer not to talk about my future.

“I want to win the Premier League as that is the only trophy which is missing.”
Reports claim that the Bianconeri had offered €20.5m for the midfielder and it seems as if that is going to be their final offer.

The Italian club have started to look elsewhere for a midfielder and thus Alonso’s move to Serie A is moving further away as time goes by.
What a BS by goal.com!!!

Now,this is the real interview he gave:
http://www.noticiasdegipuzkoa.com/ediciones/2008/07/03/deportes/futbol/d03fut50.1160116.php

Translation from LIVERPOOL site:

Champion of Europe, those are major words

- Without a doubt, for everything it represents and the prestige we gain from it. After so many years it was time to end all the negative talk. We are very happy and it’s been an incredible experience.

Let’s start with the final, a massive celebration…

- We’ve celebrated it the way you’re supposed to, going all out. Enjoying every moment since the final whistle. The party got started in the dressing room, it kept going at the airport, with the reception at Colón Plaza and the celebration with our families and friends in Madrid.

What was the secret for this victory?

- That we all get along very well and there was nobody who thought himself to be above the rest. We have all understood our roles perfectly and the unity of this group will be difficult to duplicate.

The players have defended Luis Aragones…

- He has an incredible personality. He knew how to interact with the group and get to the players, something that is difficult sometimes. And we have fought for him after going through some rough times.

Is it true that he is very funny in private?

- No doubt, he is phenomenal. He is very unique. He is very serious when he needs to be but when he wants to joke around he’s phenomenal.

For a player like yourself, who loves to have possession of the football, is this the best way to have won a tournament?

- We’ve demonstrated that the team deserved to win, playing good football and also being intelligent. The defence has been fantastic and on attack, with the players that we had, we’ve done some great things. The team are deserved champions because we’ve done a fantastic tournament.

There are no losers in this group because they’ve been winning all their lives.

- My feeling was that something very odd would’ve needed to happen for us not to win every time we went on the pitch. Sure, you can always lose a match, but the confidence that we had meant that we could take on any team.

Was beating Italy the key moment?

- Yes, if we hadn’t it would’ve been the same old story. Overcoming a difficult moment against a national team of Italy’s calibre was fundamental for our self-esteem.

In that moment, the figure of the captain, Iker Casillas, emerged.

- Iker played his role very well. He understood how to be the voice of the team, without trying to impose anything on the rest. And at the end, is with your day-to-day attitude how you win over the affection and respect of your team-mates.

Is Xavi’s choice as the best player of the tournament a fair choice?

- Yes, among others, but I think it’s well deserved. He’s been one of the players who have taken over the responsibility of the games and he’s done a great tournament.

Torres said before the start of the tournament that most people aren’t really aware of how good Xabi Alonso is. You do know what Torres is capable of.

- Yes, this year I’ve gotten to know him better. The terrific season he’s had at Liverpool has been incredible. I’m very happy for him because he’s become a part of history now.

Another one of the impressive players was Marcos Senna, who kept you out of the starting eleven.

- Yes, we play in the same position and he’s done an amazing tournament. The only thing I can do now is to congratulate him because he’s been one of the best.

In the two friendly matches prior to the tournament Luis experimented with you as a starter.
What happened afterwards?

- I don’t know, I knew I had possibilities. The manager finally went with Senna and things went great for us so there was no reason to change.

How would you grade your personal contribution in this tournament?

- I’m satisfied. The minutes I got to play I felt very good. We all would like to play all the time but if you’re a substitute the important thing is to contribute and be available for the manager. I enjoyed my share of minutes.

Does it comfort you the fantastic performance against Greece or the final minutes against Russia?

- The match against Greece was different because I got to play from the start but in general I’m very happy with the job I did.

When you left Real Sociedad you didn’t think you’d end up with the best CV for a Basque player…

- I’m very happy with the way my career has gone so far and of the titles I’ve won. I’m enjoying the moment because there will be time in the future to look back and in the meantime I want to keep looking forward.

You will value it more as time goes on…

- I’m aware that the Champions and the Euro are very important titles that not many players can say they’ve won and I value them greatly.

What’s left to win, the Italian Calcio?
- Well, a league title in any country, I’ve never won one. The closest I was to winning one was with Real Sociedad and had I won it, it would’ve been similar to this Euro triumph. To have a complete CV I’m missing a league title.

Are you as close to Juventus as it’s been rumoured?

- No, I’m on vacation right now and I can’t comment much more on the issue.

I imagine that you suffered a lot with the loss at Medizorroza.

- Yes, it was tough. I left the training pitch with Real winning 1-2 and when I arrived to the hotel they had lost 3-2. It was crazy.

And on top of that you had some asturianos on your team.

- Yes, they were very happy and celebrating. It’s a shame I didn’t get to celebrate.

I imagine that you’re worried about everything that’s happening with RS and for your brother Mikel.

- Yes, worried for my brother and the future of the club. If they act responsibly and do things the right way I hope that they can improve the current situation.

Had Astiazaran included more clauses on your transfer to Liverpool he would’ve solved this crisis.

- Things were done properly at the time and at the end it worked out for all the parties. In this sense there are no buts.

Life is smiling at you. Twice, champion of Europe and you just became a father.

- Things are going well for me; now I’m very happy with my son Jontxu and spending some vacation days in Donostia.

------------------------------
So,

-he wants to win ANY league title.
-and no comment about the future

Sorry but with Poulsen (as this is the guy we are buying) and with Molinaro, Mellberg, Knezevic, Gyrgera and Legro in the defence we will arrive at nowhere. I am seeing the team worse than last year. We have no creative midfielder and no very good defenders. Andrade will be playing late in the season, so we have no star central defender. Our mercato has been a flop like last year. And why we kept Tiago and Almiron? Not because we are buying no medfieders? Blanc etc has been taking us for a ride. We should do something to make them lesve, including Ranieri as he doesnt know what he wants. We have been linked with a 100 midfielders but what we got? Noone and if we buy someone he will be another Tiago or Almirion. Its a shame we have an incapable management in dealings for buying very star players!!

Sorry, but there is so much wrong in your post. I have to number it.

1. We said similair stuff last year and we eventually had the second best defence in serie A.
2. Wtf? We have only upgraded the team. Unless you see Nocerino, Criscito and Palladino as a big loss.
3. I''ll quote Rocky. It ain't over till it's over.
4. We probably wont keep them.

I know its hard for you, but you can have a little faith in the team. Juve has that winner mentality. We practically played with our serie B team with a minimum improvement last season and we finished 3rd. I have hope in Juve like I always do.

What sucks more about our transfer plan is how it handle anything but our weakness.

We have the best attack line in Italy ---> we decide to spend half our budget on Amauri.

We need a player who can pass the ball ---> we are linked with Poulsen.

Xabi's deal might collapse ---> we are looking at other alternative such as Schewentiger, Podolski... or any other player who play anything but Xabi's rule.

We are short of quality on CBs ---> we buy Mellberg and Knezevic.

Molinaro is trying so hard ---> we decide not o buy a replacement.

+rep

Tiago,Almiron are going to leave the board have already said that.

Giovinco,Marchisio,De Ceglie for me is a dream mercato already ( even that we diden't buy them) if we bought them people would be crazy..
They are 3 of italys most promising players... Giovinco is a player that comes once in 10 years.. Wait and see..

Andrade played 4 matches last season.. he is lika a new player
Amauri is making our attack completed.. we have the best attack in Serie A.
Camo,Zanetti,Sissoko,Marchisio,Nedved,Marchionni,Brazzo, and Mr X

Very good midfield, a wonderful mix between young players and older

I love this Juventus

Ranieri has to explain this to Molinaro before he try so hard to stop Quaresma next time we face Inter .

Here are the points where I dont agree:
1. We had the second best defence but we finished 12 points behind Inter and 8 behind Roma. So its obvious we need to strengthen the defence which we didnt in Mellberg and Knezevic.
2.Dont you think we upgraded only the attack which we dont need as we had the best attack?
3. Here I agree, although I dont believe we are going to sign Xabi or any creative player.
4. Why they are still here? We should have sold them to get some money to use them to buy good players.

I hope I am mistaken and we will do better than last year. Having a winning mentality is not enough to win the league and the CL. You need to have a strong team.

You mean De Ceglie:rulz:

btw Quaresma is overrated
Do you think Ranieri is going to play De Ceglie, Giovinco and Marchisio? These are without experience and I dare say we will send them on loan if not sell them to Genoa. Juventus dont believe in young players though they say so.

Sorry for the readers, but here I go again with the numbers :p.

1. We still had the second best defence. There's is more to football then just defending. We lost a lot of points against small teams cause we couldn't score and because we had bad luck with the referees. And we did strenghten the defence. We got Mellberg who's better then Legro and we got Andrade playing again.
2. Mellberg and De Ceglie in defence. Marchisio and Giovinco in midfield. Plus the mercato isn't over. Amauri was needed, cause we need more strikers for CL and serie A.
3. If you agree then why put it in the "dont agree list".
4. Almiron will be off to Sampdoria by next week I guess. Tiago will probably leave too, although I dont see that as a big priority if were not gonna spend big on Alonso.

I agree with Godfella that we have a decent team and I'm sure we'll improve more. I see a comeback post with the numbers again coming from you after I post this so let's just say that we dont agree and save both of us time and trouble :).

1 It's already officiall they are going to stay.

2. They arent so young, ok if they were born 89 or 90 like Pato and Bojan.. Marchisio,De Ceglie is in the same age that Nocerino was last season, and nooo he diden't get any chances at all:smoke:.

3 They have expereince from Serie A this season and they all did it good. De Ceglie have only Molinaro to compete with, what a hard challenge.

4. I believe Ranieri gave some youngster a chance but the wrong youngsters, Palladino,Nocerino played alot but without to shine, Giovinco will shine thats the difference between last years "youngsters" and this years

You guys need to realize that Xabi is the epitomy of a true professional footballer. He isn't going to say anything positive or negative about moving. So don't jump to any conclusions, but don't get your hopes down either. Transfer season is always a little crazy and sometimes a little patience pays dividends.
