Real are probably waiting for the Ronaldo situation.True, they arent similar players by any means, but maybe they'll shift to Alonso if Ronaldo's stay at Old Trafford is 100% confirmed.I wont rule out a Madrid move for Alonso yet.
Why would they shift from a winger "cristiano" to a CM "alonso" !! As someone here said, if madrid r indeed interested they would've showed it allready. 18 million euros is a fair price for alonso.......

I've been told he'll be announced tomorrow after the stock exchange closes. I doubt it but maybe really need some $$$ to get Barry. Well, maybe not since Gillet and Hicks are loaded.

They may be loaded, but they also have massive debts to service.

Im sure Liverpool will have 16-20m or whatever it costs to take Barry. They arent that poor.

@Only-Juve - Why they woudl shift from a winger to a CM is beyond me too,but hey this is Madrid. The dont usually go by who they need. They go by who they want. And yes 18 m is very fair price for Alonso, but again..dont count Madrid out so soon.Alonso can say whatever he wants, but we all know that a single concrete offer from Spain..and bloom, the door on Juventus gets slammed shut.

Madrid are stacked in CM position, Guti, Snejder, Gago, Diarra getting back De La Red. And if they might be interested in Diego, thats another central player. Dont count on them getting Xabi, seriously.

And unlike what you say, their signings have been pretty sensible for the last couple of years. They have done what we should do (with less bank account yeah), buy young talented players who are hungry for success, and gotten 2 league titles as a result.

Juve cool Xabi interest
There are reports that Juventus have called off their attempt to sign Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso. It has been suggested that the Anfield outfit are demanding at least £16m for the Spanish international, which is a fee the Old Lady can’t match. The Bianconeri may now turn to former Udinese star Sulley Muntari, who is currently at Portsmouth and is expected to command around £7m.

How much do you know about Spanish players at Juve?
I don't remeber any good Spanish players at Juve! Since I'm supporting Juve since 1990! and I said traditionaly, maybe we had one or two in very past but the style of players of those countries fit more in Juve. IMO.

You know what? Xabi Alonso is a very good player but when we have Zanetti, Sissoko and Marchisio then he is not our first priority! But VDV is creative midfiealder and we need creativity im Midfield.

Anyway, this is how I think.
