I Want More Than 38 Million Euros For Essien - Lyon Pres
7/2/2005 12:45:00 PM
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has insisted that he wants more than 38 million euros for Michael Essien after reports that Chelsea made a bid of that amount.
Manchester United and Real Madrid have also been linked with the Ghanaian international who impressed for the French champions last season.

"Even at 38million euros I will not sell Michael Essien. The offer will have to be considerably higher," Aulas told L’Equipe.
Meanwhile, Aulas says he expects Juninho to stay at the club.

who's gonna buy him anyhow? Not that he's not a good player, he's complete imo, and talented, but he's too expensive.

Like Fred said, apparently there's no need for Lyon to sell him so they can put high price tag on him.

I disagree, It's the best time to sell him, but not for 39m, he had a Fantastic season with Lyon, Big Clubs want him now (Chelsea,Juve,Inter, etc), who knows If next year he'll screw up or fail to show his class, then no more Big Clubs Mr Jean-Michel Aulas.

Even if there are ManU, Chelsea etc. after him now and Lyon could make cash in on him I don't see any reason for Lyon to do that. I haven't seen lately any comments from player himself that he wants to play in a bigger league and given Lyon's success I see them in a position where they can set the fee and not just accept anything. Afterall Lyon isn't that small team anymore and IMO it wouldn't look wierd if Essien would be playing for them for several years. True I ignored who's their current manager and he is capable to destroy all that Lyon has build in recent years.
