http://www.payvand.com/news/08/jul/1099.html:
I'm not saying Ahmadinejad is the good guy here, Vinman.
I absolutely agree with you that human rights and in particular women's rights are blatantly violated in Iran. But isn't it exactly the same (if not worse?) in Saudi Arabia?
Why is that? Why the hell would Iran attack anyone?
- Iran is effectively surrounded by American troops which are based in Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkey and Persian Gulf.
- U.S. and Israel have nuclear weapons. Iran doesn't.
- U.S. and Israel have invaded other countries in the region. Iran never has.
- Israel recently conducted a massive exercise over the Mediterranean consisting of around 100 planes. This was supposed to be a dry run in preparation of a possible attack on Iran.
- U.S. has held many intimidating war games in Persian Gulf and just finished another one!
==> Under those circumstances I believe that the Iranian military demonstration is not really shocking, is it?

I am in no way in favour of Ahmadinejad, Khameini and the whole Iranian regime. In fact, I despise these guys, just as the likes of Mugabe, Kim Jong Il and whatnot. However, while I am convinced that these people should be watched on closely, I do not believe that WWIII is upon us.
