Best continents so far (teams that moved on to the second stage)
4/5 South America (with Australia)
10/14 Europe
1/4 North America
1/5 Africa
0/4 Asia
South America really need more spots, they should at least get the North America vs Asia one. I'd rather see Uruguay than Trinidad & Tobago (never again!!)

Only one boring game in the final stage imo, SUI-UKR. All the others looks pretty interesting, espassially SPA-FRA and POR-NED (and of course SWE-GER for me :O).

if the aussies had italy's group would they go threw on top? or at all?
I dont know and i cant answer that question cause ghana where 4th nation i think if memory serves me right so it would have been Czechs Italy usa and Aussies! I think australia and Ghana are very similar teams both play with tremondous heart and have talent so i would yes they would get through especially how badly hit Czechs where by personal from suspensions and injurys!

Asia and Africa are the worst continents once again...what a suprise.

But hey, let's give them a few more spots just for the hell of it.
I'm probably in the minority here, but I think to have a tournament that legitimately attempts to call itself the World Cup, you need to be inclusive of clubs in continents such as Asia, Africa, and even North America. Only a few token slots is not sufficient. (I think the balance now is about right.)

Otherwise we'll just end up with a tournament that calls itself "the World Cup" and yet consists only of a European white man circle jerk accentuated by a handful of black and mulatto Portuguese speakers from Brazil.

IMHO, in a partially related note, Tunisia got pretty much robbed today by a ref who missed a FK handball combined with a constrained Sheva who tripped over his own leg for a game-winning PK attempt.

I think if Domenech continues to properly use the squad, they can win of the Spaniards.
You mean like doing the unthinkable: benching Zizou?

God, the French are such a poor excuse for a quality European team these days.

na forget about the qualifying and what place the teams finished. if the aussies played the czech's, u.s.a and ghana would they still be 1-1-1 and would they have qualified if that was a group. (IF)

Yeah... like the USA, Costa Rica and Trinidad & Tobago did any better, gathering a massive 2 points between them :disagree: while Mexico qualified from a group containing footballing giants Angola and Iran on 4 points, the same number Korea Republic earned.

Côte d'Ivoire, meanwhile, were just unfortunate... I really don't think they deserved to go out :(

+ I know it's a bit of a joke, but don't forget that Australia is now included in the AFC :p

The AFC, in turn, will soon merge with UEFA, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL, CAF, and the OFC to form PFC -- the Pangea Football Confederation. :p

Very true Greg & its an old arguement already,if ppl had it their way it would be north/south america & europe competing for the WC.Its a global game ffs,no matter how bad the african/asian teams are,how on earth could one call it a WC witout these teams?

zizou is not the problem, why cant zizou play with 2 upfront ? Viera and makelele could cover behind the spaces he leaves behind.

spaniards defence was not tested that much , but tunisia gave them a little run. So if france could test that then they could do it
