it's a proposal sure, they've got more than a decade to get it together, isn't as if Japan Korea or RSA had their stadia in place already.
The issues weren't similar, plus Japan could put the stadiums up in a few months for £30m each.

You could post a photocopy of a $5m signed cheque from a Qatari sheikh to Sepp Blatter on here and people wouldn't accept it, so it makes the idea of trying to prove bribery wasn't part of the bid pretty pointless.

Qatar have lots of money (and not the strongest bid on paper, that's untrue, its an interesting and ambitious bid but not the strongest, even FIFA reported so a fortnight ago), more than the other competitors, FIFA likes lots of money, Qatar won the bid. Make of that what you will.

I bet some would have complained no matter who got the 2022 WC. Just that the complaints would have been about different things.

Btw, it was too arrogant from Japan and Korea to bid for 2022 after hosting 2002. Do those wannabes on the world football map want to host every single world cup maybe?

Yes it was, they had no chance, but they only bid early realising they have no chance so they get their foundations early, so by the time the next Asian slot comes up they are at the front.

    Aha.
China could be a strong rival by then, do you think so? I read something about them seriously considering bidding for a WC. If Qatar didn't win it they'd have tried in 2026 already.

Yeah I posted at the beginning that it looked like they would bid for 2026 and win for sure, but obviously the Qatar 2022 success scuppered that. No way is FIFA going to turn down a Chinese World Cup, they can abuse as many human rights as they want. Japan, Korea and Australia will fight it out for the following Asian one, everyone is getting pushed right back because of these type of bids.

Don't shut your eyes mate. There has been criticism towards Qatar for years now. It's a different issue when, like Ahmed says, it's not a dealbreaker anymore. Perhaps we should reconsider our entire approach then. If FIFA really support diversity, how can they allow Qatar to host the World Cup?

Swag, Antarctica is part of the world too. You think we could have a World Cup there?

Come on no one should play football when the temperature reaches 50°C.
