this is easily the lowest level world cup i can remember
I don't know, some of these European sides don't look like your father's teams. Belgium is old and uninspiring, Spain is super young, and this Germany is just meh.

Alen explained it well earlier today. By ending up in the second place they avoid Croatia and Brazil and instead get Morocco and Portugal.
And Germany are out. You don't want to meet them in the final. But obviously all that goes out the window if Costa Rica win.

To be honest I think most European teams look tired. Regardless of whether they are young or old. They're struggling with the timing of this World Cup it seems.

I would much prefer a South American World Cup winner anyway, so I'm not unhappy about it either. European teams have devolved into boring tactical quasi club team football over the years imo. Which is why they always win.
