Basically same thing happened with our last legendary keeper. Zoff was probably 2nd greatest (behind Yashin) keeper of all-time when he retired. 6 scudetti, 2 coppa italia, 1 UEFA Cup, 1 World Cup, 1 European Championship. Lost 2 CL finals. Lost CL final to Hamburg in the final match of his career on a long shot from way outside the box.

We won CL two years later.
