I don't want to be toxic but the truth is that he never was the material of a top club, as second goalie yes but not as a regular starter. his penalty save record is the only impressive point during his time at Juve. We wasted Perin because of him.
If Perin was better he would have played. Szczesny's main problem was that he followed Buffon, now we had to realise that human goalkeepers make mistakes.

I didn't like him at first, actually I didn't want him anywhere near us to be quite honest. But replacing a giant like Gigi is never easy, and to be fair he's done as well as he could, shit we could have had Courtois and I'd still have doubts after growing up watching Gigi in net for us. Grande Szeczesny, wish plenty success where ever he goes

Comparing the classy Szczesny with troublemaker Courtois should be a grave offence. Even if it's sporting wise and Thibaut obv is the better goalie. F*ck Courtois.

From technical standpoint there wasn't a major difference, actually Perin could have done the same if he had been given the same amount of time as Woj.

One part of Szczesny's severance pay at €6M could soon be returned to Juventus. Because when he signed the contract termination, the bianconeri asked the Pole to include a sort of a 'non compete' clause. Or better, if Tek has the intention to play again, he will then trigger a discount of close to €2M on the sum that was disbursed.

If Perin was that great he wouldn’t have been happy to be number two for this long. He’s played like 50 games for us in 6 years. His distribution is terrible and the main reason he’s stuck on the bench.

perin as a shot stopper is actually very underrated. in his 6 years at juve, he's got a higher save% than tek (79% vs 75% iirc, should check), and statistically he's better at saving more difficult shots too

as @icemaη says, it's the passing that stops perin from becoming a top shelf goalie. perin's launch accuracy is well below 40%, for tek it's around 50% iirc. and that's a huge difference, even if you don't want to have the ball :allegri:

also tek is kind of a leader. he's more vocal and can better organize a defense. and of course tek is better at saving penalties

With a much smaller sample though.

it is smaller indeed, but perin played enough to kinda know what he's capable of

i do love perin, just look at my avatar. he's capable of insane saves, after he left behind the shoulder injuries he became very dependable on the line. if it was the '90s, he'd be a top dog. nowadays though, you have to be able to pass the ball around as a goalie

That actually play in Tek hand since bigger sample it s harder to keep good % in stats

It s advantage of been under Buffon for 1 year. He did learn it from him.Gigi was master of Tek for sure
