But I think we should be realistic. We should be happy if we can get 2 out those 3 names: Nani, Lavezzi & Ljajic

I'd definitely consider him, especially at that price. He really improved his defensive play at Roma and while he came off the bench many times he was very effective. I'm not saying he should be our key signing but surely a transfer to consider at that price. I like Candreva but it's crazy to pay 20-24mln for him when you pay half of that to get Ljajic who has future ahead of him.

No. I liked him in the confederations cup last year. He also looked decent in his games against us.

If we are linked with Pastore, Lavezzi and Jovetic. Expect us to get none of these names unless Marotta sells Vidal. Of the 3, Pastore would be the most likely. He has been with PSG for 3 seasons and his market value has dropped considerably.

He is not that young anymore at 25 and he is not getting a look in at the Argentina National team. As far as I know he has had 1 great season in the last 4 and that was 3 years ago. I wouldn't pay more than 20m for him even in this market.

Lavezzi's market value would be similar to Pastore. He is a much better player. But he is 29. That means we would only sign him on a 3 year deal whereas we could sign Pastore on a 5 year deal. That makes a big difference. If they were both valued at 20m (for instance), Lavezzi would cost the P&L EU6.7m per year plus his wages (which would be higher than Pastore's). Pastore would cost the P&L EU4m plus lower wages.

Jovetic is unlikely to happen. Firstly, the player and the club have showed no intentions to sell. Man City did pay close to EU30m for him. In theory, his market value has dropped due to a lack of playing time + injuries but then again, the market has appreciated in general. If he is available, I would definitely get him for 20-25m.

Out of the 3, my preference would be Jovetic. However, I think its unlikely.

My fear is that once these 3 are found to be "unattainable", we would look to get a 2nd rate option for around 20-30% less that adds no value to the team.

Pastore (+ some cash) was offered to Roma in exchange for Pjanic couple of weeks ago reportedly. Roma turned it down. I think that he wants out and this is probable that he will be in our price range or even Marotta will be able to loan him. Skipping Iturbe and purchasing Pastore may turn out as a very clever move in the future. From the beginning of this whole Iturbe story I was wondering how are we going to put two left-footed right wingers in one line-up. I mean Berardi and Iturbe. From my point of view there is no place on the field for these two guys together, and it would be a catastrphic mistake to bench Berardi or spend almost 30m on substitue (Iturbe).

Pastore is a player with very rare characteristic, as there aren't many players of this type on the market. He has been poor recently, and PSG overpaid for him years ago, but for sure there is still huge potential to restore. And he can get along with Pirlo very well.

I don't think he would do very well as a trequartista. So yeah, he probably wouldn't suit us unless we used him on this wing in a 433.

Well, loan seems unlikely, correct me if im not right but PSG has to sell player before they can buy one cuz of FIFA regulations? They will probably want to sell him rather than loan if its true.

He was purchased for around EU45m from memory. I think he signed a 5 year deal. He is in his 4th year in the contract, so definitely PSG wants to sell. Anything under EU18m and they will book a loss on his sale (after 3 years of amortization). Getting this guy for 15-18m is a definite possibility. No-one outside of Italy really rates him - people in Italy like him because of that 1 good year at Palermo. I just think he has only done well in 1 season out of the last 4 and is already 25 - I don't think he has that much potential. Its a bit like how people were saying Giovinco had potential at 24 or 25.

You are probably right, I'm not really acquainted with all FIFA regulations and FPP, but this sword is double-edged. I mean, everybody knows that they need to sell, so as long as we are not talking about top-notch names like Thiago Silva or Cavani, they won't be able to trigger bidding war. They won't get any really huge proposals for their unwanted players, and because of that there is room for negotiations.
