No way is Abate more error prone than Caceres at full-back, not by a long shot. Classic case of people getting all emotionally attatched to our players.

Also, Abate coming in doesn't mean anything with regards to the formation, he's a natural full back.

Getting rid of a useful,versatile squad player in Caceres just to make room for Abate makes no sense.

And i dont think Abate is free either ,his contract expires in 2015 AFAIK.

Sacrifising Martin for Abate?!?! I'd rather offload Bonucci and or Marchisio first. They'd bring in more cash and there are a lot more alternatives to compensate their departure.

As for replacing Marchisio, what cheap, quality midfielder would be willing to come here and be rotated when there's plenty of big clubs out there with midfields much easier to break in to than our own.

I should clarify i'm not suggesting we SHOULD sell Caceres. But if United put a desperate offer in, and we get Abate then i'd consider it

But he should stay ahead of Padoin and Isla, although it's not exactly awful to think of selling him

Coentrao (Asamoah) Bring in Murru for free, and allow Asamoah to play in CM too if need be.


There's at least 2 for every position, and each of the subs are still definitely good enough to ride our bench.
Plus Padoin and Isla would probably be around (If we sold Caceres) as emergency depth.

Marchisio would bring in approximately 20mil, Asamoah can slot in at his position and all we'd need to get is depth midfield signing or have a youngster on the bench a la Maronne(but this time play him where he is suppose to, not as a goddamn center of 3 cb). Coentrao in with Marchisio money, Bonnuci out get in cash only. Having Ogbonna, Caceres as CB depth for Chiellini and Barzagli, I'd even bring back Sorenson or another youngster.

Marchisio out- 20-25mil
Bonucci out- 15-25mil
Asamoah to mid- 0
Depth signing for midfield- 5-15mil
Coentrao in 15-20 mil.

We just gained a LB and could potentially gained 15mil profit.

right. if we can sell caceres for12m+ and get abate for free and someone like rogriguez or contrao for 15m we have pretty much not lost too much quality and have got ourself a class leftback.

same thing should apply for attack. if we sell the likes of giovinco, vucinic, quags, isla etc.. we can get the players like Romulo for a good price, Menez for free, and then 2 of teixeira, nani, griezmann, dimaria, cuadrado,Konoplyanka etc...
