Because it's harder for a lefty to use his right foot than for a righty to use his left foot. That's why you see many right footed sidebacks playing on the left, HOW MANY LEFT FOOTED SIDEBACKS YOU SEE PLAYING ON THE RIGHT??
OR MAYBE! because there are far less left footed players then right footed player maybe that could be why you dont see many left footed players playing right. Left footed players who make pro go through the same crap right footed players go though.

This is absoloutly not "right". Left footed players always play on the left not because they can't play on the right side, but simply because they usually are the only left footed player in the team, so better put them on the left anyway.

It's pretty known that left footed players rarely if ever uses their right foot, contrary to right footed players, how many times you have seen someone like Robben, Asamoah, Marcelo...use their right foot, anf if they do it looks really akward, contrary to right footed players who can use both and you wouldnt notice the difference ( Zidane, hernanes...) And it's also a question of balance, if you played football at any stage, you would now that it's quite easy to turn a lefty defender if he's playing on the right...

I know that goal and it was a fluke, how many times you have seen Asamoah, shoot, cross or pass with his right even when he's in a position where he should use his right, lefty players tend to go back to their left foot. Wonder if you guys played any football in your life.

:p

But I actually agree to an extent, lefties tend to have a more 'swingy' motion and find it hard to balance themselves as well on their right foot. Only ambidextrous players with a left inclination can do it well.

But a lot of it comes down to the technical level of the player. Imagine Chiellini swapping positions with Barzagli and trying to make passes and clearances down the right. Ugly.

I wonder what Asamoah have you watched, he cuts in and passes with his right a lot of times.

This is not true on average. Sure, you can always pick out cases of left footed players who use almost only their left to dribble, and then find some right footed players who are so good with the ball, they have no problem using both feet.... Quite often people always seem to notice when a left footed player dribbles (maybe because it looks unnatural for them?), while if a right footed players are just as "one-legged", they won't notice..
