Ogbonna will potentially become a world class defender, and is much more likely to stay here long term. Nationality is one reason, and an added bonus in terms of immediate impact. He's also just as versatile.

Want to hear some arguments.(Just curious)

I suppose you are the same guys who have faith in Asamoah i guess.
Well, before we had Ogbonna we were having to field Marrone or Peluso in case either Bonucci or Chiellini were injured. That alone is enough for me to say we had to sign Ogbonna. Also like Jay said, he's a talented, rather young player who could be great for us in years to come and he'll get some decent playing time with the amount of games we play. Timing was right.

I'd love for us to sign Coentrao, but I doubt we're even after him. If we manage to sell a few players we'll probably sign some young forward and close the mercato.

And if Asamoah is injured, we have to field either Peluso or De Ceglie on the LWB. That's not really better, is it? :D In fact, I'd say it's worse since you forgot Caceres for our defense. Another difference is that Coentrao would go directly into our starting line-up (yes, Zach) while Ogbonna is "only" a back-up for now.

I'm still happy for the purchase of Ogbonna, but I'd definitely choose Coentrao over him.

I'd rather have Peluso at LWB than LCB. Also, Ogbonna is pretty good with the ball at his feet, someone who is calm and could play Bonucci's role. Cáceres nor Peluso come close to possess the necessary touch to do that. The way I see it, is that we'd have a gap at the back when Bonucci can't play and I'd also prefer Ogbonna in Chiellini's role over the other options we have.

Coentrao would probably be a starter, but I feel we'd be taking too much of a risk at the back not having bought Ogbonna, so I'm glad we did.

I Really can't understand people in here wanting Contreao???? Asamoah is a beast! In my oponion you cant find a more complete player than him!

- Fast
- Strong
- Good both offensive and def!

Only weak point is his crossing. People saying he cant beat his opponent is crazy!! He for sure is a better dribler than Lichtsteiner, and no one seems to have a problem with the point that Lichtsteiner cant drible?

- I prefer Asa in central, but in my oponion you cant find a better LWB that can play both ways than Asa!
