Napoli made a “monstrous offer” for Marco Verratti on Thursday morning, the Paris Saint-Germain player’s agent has claimed.

Donato Di Campli revealed that the Azzurri had tabled a bid after holding talks with PSG regarding a new improved contract for his client.

“We are still some way off an agreement,” Di Campli told Gazzetta.it. “The negotiations need to continue.”

The representative met with PSG director general Jean-Claude Blanc in the French capital in a bid to get the 20-year-old a significant pay rise.

The Italian international reportedly wants €3m a season. PSG are thought to be ready to double his present €800,000 a year terms.

“Talks will continue, even if I’m not that optimistic or hopeful,” Di Campli continued. “The fact is that Marco still has four years to go on his contract here.

“However, he is not short of alternatives. Just this morning a monstrous offer arrived on behalf of Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis.

“We will meet with PSG again next week. I need to speak with Marco and his family, then we will see.”

The agent yesterday revealed that Fiorentina and Juventus were also closely monitoring Verratti’s situation.

He is only 20 :disagree:

Just what Leonetti the other day aid. If we sell Matri and Qua we'll get a top player that can play as a wide forward. If he meant Sanchez then the :tuttosport: can stop for some but others rave about him.

Guys, stop this coentrao jabbering. We got the better asamoah (based on madrid level coentrao) who is improving, and peluso, we got that side covered.

Our team is very solid in midfield and defence.

If anything, we should close the buying mercato and focus on selling, but look out for a good opportunity in the attack when it arises.

Like perhaps sanchez, who would be an excellent bench option to use when we need 3 forwards
