Why are we trying to create a problem for ourselves by selling Licht? That right side is as set as it has been in ages. Just buy Kolarov, keep Isla and close the mercato unless Jovetic starts talking about Conte before the season begins in England
Well, it kinda depends.
I absolutely love the massive defensive power we got with asamoah and lichtsteiner on the wings, and the mvp midfield.
And i'm totally fine if we'd just close the mercato and keep isla.
But, having an much less complete, but offensive more capable option on the wing, would give us a nice versatility.
people talk about the 4-3-3, and we can do that with tevez-llorente-vucinic..
but what if we want to keep 3-5-2 for tactical reasons?
If the enemy has very quick wingers, and is parking the bus, a problem arrives. Letting the inside forwards work the wing, will isolate the central forward. Letting the fullbacks overlap leaves dangerously much space for a pacy winger to run into.
However, playing 3-5-2, with wingbacks that are less good then licht/asa, but have a very good cross, solves this.
Its still a wingback, there is still 3 defenders to back up the flank, and we'll have 2 dedicated forwards, meaning focussing llorente, gives tevez room to run into, and just look at his goal 2 days ago, how he can take advantage.
For me this would be the reason to keep Isla and padoin. Both are significantly less defensively and complete then licht and asamoah. And whilst asa is good at creating corners and licht at running behind defences, they arent adept crossers. Padoin crosses much better, and can play on the left (sell de ceglie ffs), whilst isla could operate on the right.
BUT, its what the coach thinks. Conte wanted versatility on the wing for this reason, but does he believe in Isla ? If conte thinks that isla isnt going to cut it, then selling him to inter, and reinvesting in another offensive situational wingback, will solve this.
