Wasn't Robben the bigger Choker? You are using one game to define his mental strength? In that season Gomez scored 13 goals in the champions league in 14 games. CL games are not low pressure matches by any means. Higuain has 8 goals in the CL in his whole career.
In the season before that he scored 8 goals in 8 games in the CL. He scored a brace in the Cup final a few weeks ago (like all chokers do). He scored 26 league goals last season and 28 the season before (totalling 41 and 39 respectively in all competitions per season).
Chelsea were lucky against Bayern as they were against Barca. Atleast Gomez scored in the penalty shoot out. I doubt you'd say Messi is a pathetic choker for not scoring against Chelsea during that match.
Trezguet missed his penalty in the 2003 CL as he also did in the 2006 WC (and didnt score in both games) but I would never call him a choker. Gomez has one game where he wasted a couple of chances and he is labelled choker. How convenient.

What do you guys think about possibility of getting Portuguese duo Nani and Coentrao? The later appearently wants to leave Madrid and return to Benfica, but I guess we could at least try to convince him to come here. And Nani is almost definitely leaving Manchester, his career completely stalled this last season, he needs some changes and a chance to prove himself. He's been linked with Galatasaray and Monaco, which are not very exciting destinations if you want to achieve something important in your career rather than fill your pockets with money.
I'd say that's a fap worthy squad.

I'm curious what's so special about Marchisio and Jovetic. Just those two players specifically, I'm truly honeslty curious. By reading these forums one would believe that they are the second coming of Gerrard and Del Piero.
I wonder how Llorente would work there, you know 'cause he can link-up the game with our box-to-box midfielders (Vidal, Marchisio, Pogba), but, they won't be able to go that high on the pitch now that you don't have that impenetrable BBC back, instead that'd mean that'd mean that Coentrao would be to one who has the more freedom to go upfront and try to go deep on the left while Mirko has a bit more of freedom going to the center and also supporting Coentrao.
It's clear that we are well on the path to domestic dominance. The latest of our scudetti came at a leisurely stroll. Our return to the top table of European football was generally impressive with some majestic performances balancing out several abject showings. The question now is How do we progress and develop further as a team?
In the cb,rb,cm and gk positions we are very strong if not world class. Asamoah has plugged the lwb problem more than competently but I'm not alone in thinking that he should be given a chance in his natural role and that we should sign a specialist, top drawer lwb. Such as kolarov...or coentrao. Chiellini has proven that he can be monstrous as a lb in a back four, and with bonucci, barzagli, caceres and perhaps ogbonna we have incredibly solid options in the middle if we are to adopt a flat back four.
LWB 10-15m
In attack we have lacked a clinical prima punta since trezeguet departed. Llorente will hugely add to our aerial threat in the final third and could potentially be that 20+ goals per season man we need.
Where I feel the bulk of our transfer budget should be spent is on a forward with flair and dribbling ability in abundance. A player who can beat a man with the ball at his feet, and then create a chance for others or pop the ball in the net singlehandedly. This is what seems to separate us from the elite teams who all possess one or more players of this ilk. Watching Italy and then Spain last night I couldn't help but be amazed at the Spanish midfield, which seemed to contain three Pirlos!
Many times we become one dimensional with everything flowing through pirlo, breaking stubborn teams down through pressure rather than a moment of magic from one of our forwards. Neutralize pirlo, neutralize juventus. This needs to be addressed.
Both tevez and jovetic fit the bill, the latter may be out of our reach financially but the fact that jojo has openly suggested us is encouraging. Tevez is a cheaper option, but his agent and the player himself are mercenaries, so we could easily be priced out in a bidding war on fee and wages and agent fees. Higuain seems quality but he doesn't fit the bill of what we truly need. Muriel is another option. Young, still raw but at times his potential seems huge. would 15m be enough to pick him up? And what of the Spanish Isco? Too many richer suitors? I have a feeling we will end up with Jojo. Yet there is the Nani option...on his day a phenomenal talent, but his temperament can be suspect. Illicic is the outside bet, but has he done enough to warrant a chance at a starting shirt at juve? As with Muriel, it would be a punt of sorts...
SS 10-30m
Lastly, we require a vice-pirlo. Marrone, it seems, didn't earn enough trust to be given any meaningful time in the role, instead shoe-horned into a vice-Bonucci position, where his distribution was tidy but defensively he wasnt tested regularly against strong opposition. Lodi could be useful; highly experienced and cheap (catania appear interested in several of our youngsters).

For a total outlay of 55m we could greatly improve our team. The time of adding squad depth is over, now we must dig deeper into our pockets and purchase potential starters who will improve our first XI.
