"drastically better" is a drastic miscalculation. I think it's pretty laughable to think Cáceres or Ogbonna could replace one of the best defenders in the world to begin with (going to mention @Klin here), just looking at both player's records against top level opposition and comparing it to Chiellini's career up to this point should be enough. Ogbonna has barely played against any top teams as a 25 year old and has had a struggle in his first season in Serie A, while Cáceres has been a decent backup player that has stepped into centre back against a few middle table teams and done fine, certainly not done anything close to "fantastically well" in that spot.

I'm fucking staggered by this as a serious suggestion

There isn't one, which is why we should not sell him. If you want a ready-made replacement for him they are already playing for top teams.

A defender with a lot of world class potential for less than €30m I can think of a few.

We didn't do a bad job assembling 2/3 or 4/5 of that back 3 or 5 without glitzy names. Any players we buy have to be made into champions. You see that as a problem with our GM, but it's just our club in the current game.

The ones wanting to sell chiellini are the ones who want 2 top strikers at the club imo

Yeah, Sorensen could be worth the gamble but my point is that we do not start dismantling a well developed project before it's completion. Did Bayern sell any of their key players in the last 5 years until they reached the top?

I would take Lewandowski---Robin Van Persie with Ogbonna--Bonucci--Barzagli in defence

over our attack and Chiellini--Bonucci--Barzagli..

Or we don't even need to replace chiellini or Marchisio.. and just switch to 4-3-3 .. for the money being touted we could have got Gotze (37m), Lewandowski (25m) and Nani (10m). Again, that would make us drastically better.

Signing one striker is more than enough.And that wud also mean progression while selling chiellini wud be like going one step backwards imo.

Of course. If those 40M and 30M from the potential sales of Chiellini and Marchisio are properly used, I have nothing against the idea. Even if I still consider Chiellini irreplaceable. But even if we earn 70M from the sales of those two I have my doubts in the abilities of Marotta to conclude the signing of the types of Goetze, Lewa and whoever you mentioned in your post.

Cant sell Chiellini. He is one of the best defenders in the world. If he asked to leave then fair enough but if he is happy to stay then keep him. Chiellini is one of the best in his position stupid to sell him. If we got over 20 million for Barzagli i would accept but Chiellini still has a long career ahead of him.

Honestly, Not selling Chiellini for 40 million would be stupid.

Thats the same amount we paid for Nedved and around the price paid for Aguero, Cesc, Villa
It's 1/3 the price of the Juventus Stadium lol.

People don't look at things objectively and fall in love with players. The only player in our team I can't see us replacing easily is Vidal. If we get crazy bids for other players we should take them regardless of if fans feel like they have gotten to know them. We might not need to sell but we have not been able to make our team competitive in attack so if stupid clubs like Monaco offer crazy money it would be kinda dumb not to accept.

Nobody has named a player that could replace him and nobody will, Juventus cannot afford to think of replacing Chiellini as well as getting an attacker, and keeping all the pieces of the team that work to a high level is much more important than purchasing players.

Don't be surprised when fans fall in love with players when they perform at a very high level over a 5-6 year period at the club, and think it would be extremely difficult to replace them when the team cannot compete for wages of similarly excellent defenders in world football. If this was about selling Asamoah for €25m you'd find a much different response, I don't know why you're trying to make a point of people thinking it's stupid to sell one of the top 5 centre backs in the world.

Chiellini isn't solely worth the transfer fee Juve receives for him anyway, he has a lot of value as a leader in the team as well as being part of an established defensive unit at many levels in a short space of time.
