both sides are underwhelming.

what the point in facing top teams when they know all they have to do is press the middle?

wingbacks arent good dribblers or crossers. kill the center and juve's creativity dies.

opposite problem of cappello's juve

Zuniga isn't exactly a good crosser.
There are remarkably few good crossers of a ball these days.

What came first: the move away from strikers who thrive on crosses or the lack of good crossers?

Or is it a chicken and egg thing?

I'd say he's a better crosser than Licht.
Probably, but not by enough to get close to being considered a better overall option at wingback than Lichtsteiner.

If you want to think about fullbacks, remember that this is juventus, not brazil, and the coach is antonio conte, not zeman.

Wingbacks are rated on their total package, with a high importance to defensive capabilities, and domminating the wings. Conte will not remove a wingback, for another, that is considerably worse at defending but can cross.

Because of this, i cant see peluso/asamoah and licht be replaced in the near future. Isla remains to be seen, but licht wont move for anyone thats not on par defensively. and very very few are in europe. Nobody in italy beats asamoah or licht on their wings.

Don't think they need to be on a par with him defensively to take his spot.

What they do need to be is good enough at defending so that their attacking ability can make them a better allround package, and Isla, for instance, could be that if he can regain his old form.

However, even then, I'd expect that to only bring about a genuine rotation between them and I still wouldn't necessarily expect Isla to be picked ahead of Lichtsteiner for big games against tough opponents.

Disagree on this. Just look at the midfield. why do we play giaccherini or padoin in the center, if we need a second sub (pogba=1) instead of just fielding marrone, who is offensively better ?
Cause the balance (holy word), the organisation, must be perfect
