@Mark

if we did somehow manage to sign someone like higuain/tevez/jovetic etc... is there any word on when the earliest is that we could expect this to happen? maybe in the next few weeks before pre-season training or maybe towards the end of the window?
No later than mid July, but given the Conte saga off late, I'm pretty sure a big name is going to come pretty early just to calm his nerves as he prepares preseason.

how yall feel about sagna, i think his contract is ending soon

actually the only 2 negatives i see are his wages and his voiced desire to go back, other than that hes got juventus written all over him
Yeah, those are basically the major issues I see as well, but those issues are showstoppers, really.

He would be a huge add, but I can't see him being a legitimate target at this point. The rumours seem more like typical lazy journalism during silly season (Juve need a SS, Juve need a LWB, voila, double swoop for Shitty's want aways), but we'll see.

That's what I thought too; it seemed like he was trying to force his way out of City forever, and he was certainly a huge distraction for that locker room at times. Figured that as soon as the contract expired, he was back to Argentina to spend time with the family.

Carlos Tevez is a very good player, but I don't seem him as being Marotta's first big striker purchase; I think he probably carries more perceived risk than BM is willing to take. I see Marotta going after a younger guy, lower salary, a player the team can grow with, a player who's not had the past off field drama that Tevez has had.

Gotta love mercato season!
The salary will be exactly the same as the Zlatan case, maybe even more difficult as I don't think he'd be as willing to cut loose from his current deal. And I also think it would be an odd move for this management to go for a big investment on a player that would stay short term (assuming the salary is achievable, which it isn't).

It would certainly be awesome to have Tévez and Llorente.

I can see Juve offer him 7m or so. He currently earns about 8m at Shitty. 3 year contract, with a transfer fee of about 20-22m. Structured similar to the Zlatan deal, but Tevez should settle well in Italy, and we can get some fantastic service from him. At 29, it's simply too early for him to go back to Argentina, he'll still want to participate in the CL. Just my thoughts. Anyway, that said, he's better than all the other forwards we've been linked to, and is truly a game changer. In fact his age is the least of my concerns coz he has at least 3 top years in him.

Oh man, oh man. It would be such a different look for us up front, I'd have to pinch myself, brother.

Of course, El Pipita would also be... :tuttosport:

Think i'll only blieve marotta's quotes from now.u cant get a more reliable source than him lol.
He says jo-jo's agent has offered him to us and thats abt the closest we've got in the pursuit of a top fwd and may well be our no.1 target this summer

Buffon
Storari
Barzagli Bonucci Chiellini

Padoin Pogba Diamanti/Lodi Giaccherini Peluso
Jovetic Llorente
Vucinic/Giovinco Matri/Quagliarella

IN: Llorente, Jovetic, Diamanti/Lodi, Free/Cheap CB
Out: Matri/Quagliarella, Lichtsteiner, De Ceglie, Marrone

Everyone is going to go wild on my for saying selling Lichtsteiner. He's a great fullback, I love him, but we need more of an attacking threat. If Isla can pick up his Udinese form which is looks like slowly he is, he'll fit our team better than Licht, and we'll be a better team because of it.

Also, Lichtsteiner's contract is expiring in two seasons and he's 29. We should try getting as much cash out of him as possible while we still have a chance.

If we plan to play 3-5-2 always and forever then I agree we should sell Licht if that's what it takes to find a great striker.

I guess we can rotate Lichtsteiner and Isla, depending on tactical needs.

But if want to cash in on Lichtsteiner, now is the time. He's 29, 2 years left on the contract, and is coming off of two great seasons.

Why should we cash in on him???! Or any player for that matter. We didn't cash in on Del Piero, Buffon, Nedved etc so stop saying it.
