I think he meant to be a bit more thoughtful with investing players. Whatever the club considers to be a large investment, they should try and make sure the player is worth it and the position is a priority. You very rarely see Bayern make a sizable investment and it not work out. Like Isla for example; 18 million invested over two seasons, why? Juve needed help on the left and up front, so they make an major investment on the right. Didn't seem like a wise purchase at the time, still doesn't now.

We switched to 3-5-2 and Isla is a right wing back, a very good one in Serie A. It made plenty of sense at the time, and still will if Isla gets back to form and fitness. Some were even talking of Lichtsteiner being only used for a 4-3-3 system as he is a natural fullback. That Isla has later struggled is retrospective viewing.

The idea that the €9m spent on Isla (which doesn't buy you anything up front) was taken out of the striker budget also appears to be a fallacy, considering our late transfer offers.

Bayern are in a different position to us, they already had a very strong team and 20 years run well.

Sounds great apart from Bonera. Lodi/Poli are meh, I think we should use Diamanti as a Pirlo sub, he's really good.

Yeah,i wrote Bonera just because of todays news...but there are few others we can get on free this summer Diakite,Amorebieta or Hubočan are all fine options for backup.
Actually Lodi imo is a good option for the bench,he is much more proven and better than Poli imo.and he's 29 not that old,will be just a usefull sub who has great FK shots,and nice assists ratio as well.

I would be pretty fucking happy about Ljalic, Higuain, Diamanti, Poli and whatever 5th CB we get. Pretty good Mercato.

Then out with Quagliarella, Matri, Giaccherini and Padoin (though that will never happen with the latter 2).
