That's true, but 25M on a player we don't really need at the moment is still quite expensive.

But I love the player though, would be a great Pirlo replacement. I just want this fucking star player in attack though!

He's just the type of player we need. Pirlo has overall under-achieved this whole season, pale shadow of the player from last season. Whether he'll bounce back next year is unknown...still he's in the years where one injury can lay him off for a long time.

Besides, we can play with both of them. Just bench Marchisio.

Pretty unfair on Pirlo, IMO he just hasnt been at his best since March. Before then, he was pretty good really. Scored goals and made a few assists. Not as good as last season true, but still great.

And we have a certain Pogba to most likely replace Pirlo when he eventually leaves/quits/retires. He is not a pure regista like Pirlo, but can offer us something different in that role with his technique and passing abilities.

Pirlo hasn't been 50% the player he was for us last season. Too many long balls void of ideas, too many of his fancy dribbling going wrong. He also went Casper mode in a couple of very important matches.

Calciomercato: "Man Utd have made 30M offer for Marchisio."

What do you think?
I personally would sell him. He is very inconsistent and we won't get a better offer.

It's not my fault he set the bar so high after last season. :p

I don't know, this season Pirlo was making mistakes left and right, his effect was completely diminished(again, I'm comparing him to last season). Especially his free kicks, I don't think one was a threat, let alone hit the target. Don't get me wrong, he's still incredibly important to us and make us tick, but he needs to get back to last year's form because this year he was pretty bad.

I disagree, Pogba can't be a direct Pirlo replacement. He's a Vidal replacement more, IMO.

Why shouldn't we play like this

------Pirlo------

Vidal----------Pogba

-----Modric-----

Vucinic---Llorente(or possibly someone insanely better)

Than if Pirlo does get injured, Modric takes his place and we revert to our current style of play. Modric is a versatile playmaker, can play deep, behind attack...he'd be a huge asset to snatch if Real is willing to let him go.

It's a bit narrow. I would use Modric as Pirlo's replacement.

Pogba-Modric-Vidal
Robben-LLorente-Vucinic

It's narrow on paper, it's not narrow when you look and see every midfielder in there is incredibly mobile, versatile and hard working. Something similar worked wonders for Milan for quite a while and not too long ago.
