Can't see why Diamanti isn't suitable to play as a regista. He's intelligent with the ball (not close to Pirlo, but still good), very energetic and tackles much better than Pirlo.

It could be, but looking at his stats and position Diamanti would be more suitable to replace or compete with Pepe. According to whoscored he has the second highest number of successful crosses in Serie A this season.

I know he plays there at the moment, but looking at the player's characteristics and qualities on the pitch, I cannot see why he cannot play as a regista.

Lodi for regista sub.
Diamanti AM/SS/RW sub/starter.

Lodi valued 6mil-7mil,and could be a good option on the bench imo.
he plays exactly the regista role,for past 3 seasons had a 9 goals per season,and 7 assists per season.
