How much we are going/willing to spend isn't really influenced by how far we progress in Europe. There are certain players we won't be able to afford, regardless of how far we go, simply because we can't offer them insane wages like the "Arab" clubs (PSG, City), the big two in Spain, or the "Russians" (Chelsea, Zenit, Shakhtar, Anzhi, etc...).

Perhaps Giacherrini contributed more than Padoin (he got more playing time), but it's not as if he was influential or important to the cause. Notice I didn't mention Pepe (even though I don't rate him), but that is because he actually had an active and meaningful contribution to our title win

Italian trio want Balotelli – Gazzetta

The Gazzetta dello Sport is today suggesting that Milan, Inter and Juventus are all thinking about making a bid for Mario Balotelli.

Despite his agent making it clear this week that no Italian clubs would be able to afford the Manchester City man in the current climate, the Gazzetta insists the three big Serie A outfits all want him.

Milan have been open admirers of the Italian international and President Silvio Berlusconi insisted on Tuesday that netting the forward was no dream.

Inter, meanwhile, are believed to have a buy-back option which was agreed when they sold the player to City in the summer of 2010.

The 22-year-old is also seemingly on the radar of Italian champions Juventus who continue to look for a 'top player’ in attack.

Juve are hoping that their developing relationship with agent Mino Raiola, who also represents Paul Pogba, could help.

Balotelli joined City at a cost of €22m. His valuation today could be around 50 per cent higher than that figure.

All the players who scored, assisted, worked hard to keep possession and tracked back have contributed to the cause. Giaccherini ran his socks off for Juve last season.
