“I’m not like Antonio,”

“He is a champion, while I am a young player who has it all to prove.

“He’s a really strong player, but I don’t aspire to be like him. I look up to Del Piero. As a kid I watched all of his goals and I’d love to 'steal’ his curling shots.”

Makes a lot of sense. Bigger pay, international compatriot, a realistic chance of silverware, CL, he obviously rejected that out of choice, didn't he?
Yes. Not all players are the same, if he is happy there then good for him. He could move any summer he wants.

He said last year he was happy in Florence and wanted to stay for several more years, then this summer he has never said anything different. His agent said he was staying, his coach said he was staying, his president said he was staying, and their communications director said if he ever wanted to leave he could. I take it from that and the rejected bids that he wants to stay.

Why would you believe contrary to what all these people said?

@JJ: JoJo, never confirmed or denied anything when the heat was on. Then his agent, tried hard to push the deal through when we presented the deal to him. Montella went on to say, he hoped JoJo would stay. His teammates said, that he must speak and decide. Prade first spoke of the possibility if a 30m gentleman's agreement and then reiterated what Dv said post their meeting in July when he was taken off the mercato. It was after that meeting that DV committed to building a team around JoJo and he lived up to it, that was all done in am effort to keep him there. So I really don't see how he was going to stay there by choice alone. Logically speaking, it was a better decision to enhance career prospects and no player in their right mind would choose otherwise, especially when theyre at the start of their careers.

Obviously he's not going to come out every summer and say 'I'm staying 100%' because you never know what will happen in football. Fiorentina may decide to sell him to generate money elsewhere, or he might be on a downer, but there was little to suggest he really wanted to leave.

Don't quite agree. This season more than ever, there was genuine interest in his services and had he said what he has in the interview above, he would've killed the interest of the clubs looking at him. He's handled the situation diplomatically more than anything.

Hopefully Fiorentina will suck balls till january.

If they find themselves somewhere below 10th I can easily see Jovetic demanding a transfer.

Then City/Chelesea/PSG will be ready to snap him up :(
