Jovetic rejected Fiorentina exit
By Football Italia staff

Steven Jovetic has confirmed that he turned down the opportunity to leave Fiorentina during the summer transfer window.

The Montenegrin was linked with the likes of Juventus, Chelsea and Manchester City, but he has remained in Viola to score three goals in their first two League games of the season.

“I’m happy to be at Fiorentina, otherwise I would have left,” the 22-year-old forward told Sky Sport Italia.

“I had a lot of offers, but, in the end, I decided to stay because I was promised that the club would build a great team this summer and they have done that.

“For me, it is important that I am part of an ambitious side who can fight for important objectives.

“My agent did his job, he told me of the proposals that came in, but I have to ultimately make the decision where to play my football and I’m happy with the choice made.”

The Stadio Artemio Franchi outfit value the youngster at around €30m.

So Llorente couldn't be bought because of his ridiculous buy-out clause
There was no way we could have matched Uniteds offer for Van Persie.
Jojo didn't want to leave.
Man City couldn't afford to let Dzeko go considering the injury obtained by Aguero.

If he really meant this, he would've said it when the window was still open. I don't expect him to saynhe wanted out when he knows its physically impossible to move after the season has begun. Good way to get the fans behind him.

Agree.
it's 100% the case here,i'm sure he wanted and still wants to join us and get Dp's number.
But after he was told that he has to stay no matter what,he has no other choice but play it right with the club and the fans.
After this season, when Fiorentina will miss out on the CL and scudetto again he will have all the rights to ask to leave them.
I hope we can still be in the picture and not lose him out to City/psg etc...

Look, if Jovetic wanted to leave he would be gone.
Makes a lot of sense. Bigger pay, international compatriot, a realistic chance of silverware, CL, he obviously rejected that out of choice, didn't he? Seriously, if you think DV didn't have anything to do with this you're in the wrong dimension. :D
