Oh good, there are 2 good poaches in the past 10 years

Pazzini, Matri, Gilardino and others can't even come close to be on that level, which was obvious even in their early career.
And who is saying those players are anything special?

Want to me to list zillions of second rate forwards who had more of an all-round game and use that as an argument for saying than non-poachers aren't any good?

Analyse the freaking difference:

- Poachers are useless in Europe
- There are no good poachers around.

The second DOES NOT imply the first.

Actually while I think of it. Toni used to be marvellous in Germany. And yes, Gomez is a poacher.

Gomez isn't doing too badly for himself at Bayern and they did alright in Europe this season, as I recall.

Huntelaar is also doing well in Germany.

Which is my point when I say that poachers suck, especially in Europe where they get cut down too easy. In majority of matches they will go unnoticed and they don't influence the game at all. Static players are old fashioned, they don't tend to do well outside of Serie A.
Football became more physical because teams chose that direction instead of looking for smarter players. Football isn't in the position that players like Trezeguet in his prime won't still be effective imo, but I don't think Pazzini should be the present day example of why they fail. I don't think he's in that league of quality.

And it's Italian clubs who failed in Europe these years, lost a CL spot and everything.
 Are you fucking serious? Germany got their CL spot because they did so well in some crappy EL (UEFA values the both competitions the same). Compare Italy's/Germany's success in CL and repeat that sentence.

UEFA screwed Italy over with their crappy EL, that's my opinion!

Bayern has done pretty well in Champions League the recent years. A final this year and in '10.

Hmm Good call on Gameiro actually ,seems like PSG are trying to offload him and i read a few weeks ago that he is close to joining Valencia(which means its likely to be a lower fee ,whatever happened to that story) though his wages are pretty high..He earns 3.6m euros per annum..How about us chipping in with a bid perhaps ?
Another skillful midget forward, I'd prefer a poacher.

Anyone calling a (good) poacher static is obviously off the rails. Their main weapon is intelligent movement.
It's an argument of aesthetics, I'm sure of it. Some people just like seeing all-round players, even if they are more versatile and easy on the eye than useful. What Juve need is a guy to put the ball in the fricking net, we had games where we had 25-30 attempts on goal and drew.

We don't need another guy who can play wide and centrally, dribble and cross, score some goals, do one-touch passes and some skill moves. We've got those players already.

You get more money for getting into CL group stages than winning the EL so i wouldnt be surprised if Italian teams continue to ignore EL and instead focus on qualifying for cl places in Serie A cuz everybody nowadays wants to have a piece of the CL cake(and the money it brings).

Napoli earned close to 30m for just reaching the round of 16..Thats a lot of money tbh.

Many people actually. Many people would welcome Pazzini with their arms open.

They are not visible in Europe where football tends to be faster with more pace and it's not like that in Italy.

I actually hate Gomez, honestly. Even his face is irritating. As for Huntelaar, I wanted him at Juve long time ago, but it's not like he was great in Italy and it's not like he did amazing in Europe. I do rate Bundesliga, but classifying like that is wrong on so many levels, because one of their best strikers and a goal machine was Pantelic who is actually one of the worst players that ever stepped on the pitch.

It's not UEFA's fault that Italy sucked in EL. But they did suck in CL too, where there were 3 English and one Spanish club for example. Inter did win it, but they choked too many times.

I need Alen to show some stats about Italy/Germany in CL.

And I still think that UEFA robbed our spot...EL is shite and you should get more "points" for doing well in CL.

I have a feeling Marotta will soon give up on these 30 mil estimated signings and start looking at players like Damiao, Soldado, Lewandovski and keeping Matri and Quag. Maybe he brings in Ramirez too, inserting some youngsters into the deal.

He didn't spend that kind of money on one player last year, why would he do that now when we won the Scudetto?

Vucinic, Giovinco, Jovetic, Van Persie - is a dream come true.

Vucinic, Giovinco, Damiao, Ramirez, Matri/Quag - is what we can really get.

Milito tore the CL apart in 2009-10.

It's not because there is a lack of quality poachers that poachers as a type of striker are ineffective.

Crespo also did well in the EPL and internationally. Your argument doesn't make sense.

sticking with our non productive strikers + bringing in ones who may struggle to adapt to the league is risky
