I pretty much agree with you on the England players.

The Gerrard, Lampard generation has clearly failed. England have to start moving on from them immediately, even if I'm not convinced by a lot of the potential replacements. The likes of Cleverly, Welbeck, Phil "Headless Chicken" Jones and even Wilshere are already being overrated by the English media.
This is the whole problem in England at the moment, and the questions are being asked, "What should we do"

When we give a player a chance for England, if he does not score 4 and look like Gazza in his prime, he will be hounded as not good enough, so we go back to the old guys, and then they get hounded by media !

I hate it, and I hate watching England. I used to go round Europe watching England, we are proud as feck, but we are given dross to watch !

Anyway, Jovetic no more than £20 million!!!

So when Everton want £20 Million for Rodwell....

Its the 2 or 3 groups behind that were a change is needed, but before that, our (England's) attitude to football all together needs to change.

at grass route level its is changing, but thats proving quite hard to change parents and some coaches mentality !

Germany have 20,000 top level coaches, England has 2000 !!!

England plain and simple aren't a big team. It's incredible that they are still considered to be one.

46 years without a single final. With such a big population, so much investment in football, so many people playing the most popular sport in the country.
And it's their wrong understanding of how football should be played which pushes them back. With all those immigrants there, you can't talk about lack of talent as a nation. It's how they think football should be played. That's the reason why they always fail.

:agree: It's mainly psychological. Unlike their battles with the French, when it comes to football England have such a defeatist mentality. The media hype them up, but the players always look lost and confused.

You only see the fighting spirit against inferior opposition. Once they play against a traditional powerhouse (Brazil, Italy, Germany, etc...) they seem clueless and confused.
yeah thats true lol i mean they had capello ffs 1 of the best coaches of his gen in terms of grinding out sheer results and he couldn't even save them i know he left them before the euros but still years of coaching under that man you would learn organisational football, maybe he quit cause he knew england were fked lol

It's not just that. It's their pride imo and their refusal to accept things from outside the island. Harry Redknapp asked valid questions right after the defeat to Italy: "Why doesn't England produce a Pirlo?", "Why the first thing we notice here about a player like Pirlo is how slow he is?"

There you have it. They still rate athleticism higher than the brains and technical abilities.

and its not like italian players are "slower" then anyone else either thats the biggest myth out there! they place a huge emphasis on the pace and fitness of players in Italy. My mate who played in italy over there said they were all athletes and he couldn't believe how fit and well trained they were.
