Aguero waited, not us. It's typical foolishness to assume he'd both, accept the first offer thrown at him and accept almost half as much in wages.

We can't sell Iaquinta or Amauri and we wouldn't be able to have any other players due, not to fees, but to wages.

Marotta is an idiot but it's not 100% his fault.
Probably, but once we have bypassed the requirements of ATM we could have set a deadline for Aguero. If the deal was good enough - we had enough time for him to accept that. I won't argue anymore, cause it is pointless but especially when the deal for Tevez was off he would have been very unsure about his starting place in Manchester City.
When you have a SD that knows a thing or two about football - he could have closed the deal. Give him a signing bonus, throw a bone here and there and you have a great player.
We were trying to save 4-5 mils by negotiating with ATM, hoping we'll be the only ones with an offer. That was absurd - we are talking about Aguero here, not Pepe. Sure we can't offer 12 mils in salaries, but we have to think hard about the value of such a player and the magical number 8. Maybe he wouldn't have accepted it, but I we would have had more than a chance. Offering him 1 million more than he is making at his current club, combined with the fact that taxes are higher here is ... Marotta's style.
