I know there are reasons to go, but I still would have expected one of them to make more of a fuss.

well, frankly, in the end of the day, who among the italian players went to russia - rather average dudes who were offered 5-10 times the salary they would get at an average Italian team .... If Bonucci leaves for Zenit, it would be because Juve doesn't want him so his prospects for the future are go to a sub-par Italian team and get paid peanuts or go to a top Russian team that plays CL and get paid like a king. Same goes for Pepe, who's probably still pinching himself in disbelief how a pathetic player like himself could well end up in a CL team with a great paycheck to top it off.

The only proper player who's going to Russia is Etoo but considering he is soon to be 31 and the money he got for that, no mystery there either.
