There is no way it's better from a neutral perspective. The quality of players, the aspect of beauty, the element of surprise. Have u seen how shitty the past World Cups have been? I haven't witnessed a decent WC since 98.

2006 was the best one after 98. - 02, and 10 sucked BBC.

Also, Barcelona aren't as great as everyone else sucking. Where are the players like Zidane and Figo? Messi is damn good, but he is no Zidane.

From a neutral perspective it's better. Barca is probably the strongest team to ever play it and even has an attractive style. It has gotten even more flashier and there's less big teams to follow or basically only two important leagues.

To us, it's not.
I don't know how old you are but Juve's style of play in the mid-90's was orgasmic. It was no wonder we made 3 back-to-back CL final births. I don't think I'll ever get to see a team (any team) play that beautiful in my life time again. Then again, not everyone has the same taste. If you like Barca's annoying million-small-passing game then that's fine but personally the Italian style of football in the 90's, namely Juventus' style, was unbelievable.

New money is spreading to new teams in the modern era (last 10 years). The German teams are stronger in general, you have more money going to Russian teams (they could be big teams in the next 5 to 10 years). Chelsea went from being 2nd rate to a world power....Manchester City will probably win a premier league title in the next 5 years and go far in Europe. Even PSG has more money behind them.

Teams in the ascendancy?

Manchester City
PSG
Rubin
Roma (new owners)
Juventus (can't go any lower...plus new stadium etc so coming off a low base)
Liverpool? (similar to Juventus but without the new Stadium)
Napoli (got to some good players and they are ambitious enough not to sell them)

Teams likely for decline?
Arsenal (losing all their stars now)
Inter (I can easily see a new coach every season and bad transfer policies not to mention new calciopoli investigations)
Bayern Munich (bit of a guess here....but I can't see Robben and Ribery sticking around for much longer)

Always strong?
Barcelona (still heaps of good young talent there.....)
Real Madrid
Manchester United

At least 3 of the next 5 champions league trophies will be won by the teams above.

I'm 20 and I'm just trying to speak for the more general population. I think they would find "total futbol" as the more attractive style. I also love watching it, but when teams other than Barca practice it. :D

And Korea robbed both Italy and Spain.

Italy actually had the strongest squad with Brazil.
Eh, it just adds to the drama :p

Truer words have indeed never been spoken.

Like I said in another thread football (at both club and international level) has been on a decline since the mid 2000s for me. Just think how good we had it in the 90s and early 2000s? Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Del Piero, Nedved, Maldini, Totti, Raul, Shevchenko, RVN, Figo, Zidane, Batistuta, Vieri, Henry, Vieira etc all in their prime. There is nothing in this current crop of so called "superstars" who come close to those guys strutting their stuff in their peak.

Nowadays there is less great players, less great teams, more boring football (and yes Im another one who finds the current Spain and Barcelona's tiki taki shit boring) too much fucking money + mercenary players, too many oil sheikhs killing the game slowly by hoarding all the so called top talent. World Cups are boring as fuck now and the CL isnt good until it reaches the QF's.

Juve with Nedved and Buffon imo will be one of the best Juve's ever.
i sometimes feel sorry for the juve supporters who didnt follow the team in the 90s...we were often magnificent and had some amazing players. Kohler, Moller, Juilo Cesar, Vialli, Di Livio, CONTE, Peruzzi, Montero, Baggio,Tachinardi, torricelli, ferrara, zizou...and some of the others, who also impressed like jugovic, sousa, deschamps...too many to recall with my sri lankan colleague attempting to make me get back to work. But my heart is warmed by even mentioned those names. Truly one of the best teams in the world to be a part of in the 90s.

In regards to FFP you would imagine that clubs would do the same thing that politicans do with super-pacs...you know large donations from "organizations"

And yeah that Juve team from the mid to late 90s. Wow. So fucking strong. If we had won those other two CL finals in that decade that team would surely have gone in history books to be one of the strongest teams ever. Such a winning mentality in that squad, fuck I miss it.

Yeah it sucked didnt it? Geting trashed by Borussia was a shock, I really fucking hated that final. And then in 98 where we played really shit in the final and Mijatovic scored that offside goal.

At least we made those finals back then. We were the most feared team in Europe for a good 3 or 4 years though :). Ahh good old days, hope they return again one day.

EDIT: Just re watched that goal. Wasn't offside :(

Yeah that was bad, but you know what really pisses me off?

All of these new chelski/barca/manutd/arsenal/etc who don't respect juve. When I play indoor soccer all the other guys talk shit about Juve. Mostly chelsea fans until I bring up the fact that Chelsea have never won the CL :D Then they stfu
