To those calling Juventus' squad mediocre. Who are you comparing Juventus' squad with? Chelsea, Man U, City, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter or Milan?

Do you honestly think that Juventus' squad isn't better than for example:

Palermo

Fiorentina

Udinese

Genoa
The very fact that you need to make that disctinction, and argument, screams how insanely mediocre we have been.

I am sorry but what mediocre SS/CM's have we bought?
Iaquinta, Tiago, Almiron, Amauri, Poulsen, Sissoko, Melo, Quaq, Pazienza, Vidal, Vucinic.

Quantity over quality, none of them are WC, none of them would reach the starter ranks of the competitive old Juve.
If we were adding just one WC players every 3 mediocre acquisitions, we would have been a competitive team by now.
Every year we spend the majority of our budget and transfer focus on buying a slightly better player, for the same position we have invested right the year before, while completely ignoring more important matters, like the LB and LM, where our starters are of serie B quality and by losing for free the players we have invested the year before, we maximize the financial damages to our club.

Each and every year, we declare that we have learned from our mistake and next year we will focus at buying, less but better players, but again add a load of average CMs, SSs, again releasing players who havent done as bad as our LMs, LBs and again not buying permanent solutions for the SS and CM.
Unless you consider Vidal and Vucinic the world class player we were missing, the ones who can make the difference and win the champion for us, this is not just another wasted year, but two!
Because we cant buy and build a team of champions within one year, by compromising the acquisition of a couple of great player, for yet another season, we compromise 2-3 seasons ahead, of the minimum time needed to build a competitive team.
Every year i hope we start building a competitive team, by adding a few great players, piece by piece, so that i can start hoping, not for the coming season, but for the next one and every year we just repeat the very same mistakes...

I can tell for certainty by the moment we spend those 15mil on Vucinic, that we wont win the championship, until till the 2013-2014 season.
The 2011-2012 season is already wasted, as we lack champions, the 2012-2013 will be wasted, even if we buy a couple of champions, because they will need some time to settle and just two wont be enough.
If we buy yet a couple of champions for the 2013-2014 we will be competitive.

No matter how many Tiago, Almiron, Amauri, Iaquinta, Vidal, Vucinic etc we buy, we will never going to be competitive...if we dont have 4-5 high class quality starters!

I think Harry Rednapp would eat Marrotta alive during transfer disscusions there is no way the penny pincher could get Bale from the expert.wheeling and dealer.
Does Redknapp not have a pretty minimal involvement in negotiations these day?

I thought he stepped aside and left it to Levy since the various accusations against him.

I say get rid of Grygera given his age.. even though Motta is atrocious!!
I'd probably ditch Motta.

Sell him now, keep Grygera as backup for a season, let his contract expire and sign a new backup RB for 2012/13.

We SHOULD be comparing our squad with Milan and Inter, not with freakin' Genoa and Udinese.

Hey, this is Juventus and not Lecce.
:agree:

Just out of curiosity Dusan, how do you rate this squad if we get Vargas for example?

Can we battle it out for 3rd?

I agree with Red by the way, we can make more of Motta.

I honestly don't know what is your problem with Vidal dude. He is a potiential world class CM. He was top Bundesliga midfielder. I would gladly remove Marotta from Juventus, but you have to give credit where credit is due.

Do you honestly think that these are the right comprasions?
I do. We need to compare Juventus squad with other Serie A teams to give a fair judgement on the squads current quality. If we were a CL-team then comparing with other CL-teams would be appropriate. But in terms of Serie A then the current squad is nowhere near mediocre. It's top 5 in Italy. That's not mediocrity

Cronios I was talking about this year.
Vidal is one of the best young CM's going around I am not really sure what more else you wanted there. Pirlo although older is still one of the best passers of the ball in the game and something we really needed.

Who would you have gotte Cron?

What Dusan wrote the previous page.

But it's just ridiculous that you're saying our squad is not mediocre while in the same time comparing it to the likes of Genoa, Fiorentina, Udinese, Palermo.

I'm doing that comparison to exactly show that our squad is better than those teams and therefore is a top five squad in Italy and therefore not a mediocre squad. Juventus' squad is above average in Serie A.

With your logic: If not as good as Milan and Inter = Mediocre.

I think there are many positive things about our current squad for the next season. I like the idea itself of having more technically gifted players as it benefits the defensive play too. I think our squad is much stronger at this point (without Vargas, but with Vucinic) but I don't think it's strong enough to compete for third spot.

Defense: It's good that we have Lich covering the right side and it seems he's going to save Krasic a lot of trouble. IMO he's a decent player at best but much better than what we had, especially in defense... I don't think he's going to contribute much in attack at all. Chiellini - Bonucci is IMO a weak partnership that's very fragile, both are clumsy defenders and I'd look into a possible sale of Bonucci if there's any top CB available. I think Lugano would add a lot more. Then, our left side is more stable but by a small margin since Ziegler is just average.

Mid: Pirlo's passes are amazing and he still got it, but he's an old player that requires a (quick) replacement as well. Not just that but I think he's going to be our weak spot in midfield considering that we're playing 4-4-2 and how we have Vidal next to him. As for the Chilean, I think he's a great players but I actually wanted to see him, Pirlo AND another player in 4-3-3 and not in our current formation. Our left wing should be some kick ass, since I don't think Vargas is good enough for Juve. When I say Juve I mean Juve that's chasing top 3.

Attack looks pretty decent and could offer a lot of danger out of nowhere.

That being said, I think we're playing with a wrong formation next season and IMO I think we still have many weak spots in this team. At this point no, I don't think we're strong enough for top 3 but it depends how we finish off this market.

Are you serious dude ?!
Melo,Vidal,Quag,Vucinic,Sissoko - Non of them are medicore .

Melo was nice player but he was overpirced .
Sissoko in 2008 was awesome far away from "medicority"
Quag who the fuck he can be medicore when he was our best player in 1st half of season :sergio:
Vucinic he may not be W.Class but he is really really good player .
Vidal - One word --> LOL .

Fair evaluation Dusan, I think swapping to a 4-3-3 is the best thing we can do. This won't happen though, I just hope Vidal-Pirlo works. I hope we can some crazy good LW but it looks like it will be Vargas, I personally would have preffered Bastos as I think he can cut in more and shoot a lot more. IMO that will balance the wing as Krasic is more of a crossing RW.

Well my rating system is not as complicated as yours - average, above average and so on.

When I am rating Juve's squad I am always looking at Inter and Milan in Italy and other top clubs around Europe.

But I'm happy for you if you're satisfied with the strenght of our squad while comparing it to the likes of Genoa.

Apparently Paratici had a deal for Tabanou for 8-9m but it was deemed too expensive for Marotta(?) or somebody else.
