I "fear" that we plan to use Bastos as a LB,it doesn't make sense playing him in a 442/424 with Pirlo being one of the two CMs,especially if the other one is Inler.

Midfield is top notch... Melo should stay. He'd add much more than Marchisio in any case.

Because Pirlo has to be used in a three men midfield(4-3-3) to be able to operate efficiently.

I don't see Pirlo playing in a 442/424,simple as that. Melo can't handle all the defensive duties on his own.

Agreed on the Melo part,he had a good season and should stay. I surely wouldn't mind Lass Diarra instead though.
