I've been wondering about that non-EU spot. Wasn't he registered as non-EU in summer of 2009? If we signed him outright this season he wouldn't count?

OR

We could have signed him until the deadline. The deadline was before the one non-EU player rule was adopted. He wouldn't count as on non-EU signing, no?
Last summer he wasn't gonna count as a non-eu because he was already registered in the league and already took a non-EU place. This summer he would have been a non-EU.
But his asking price was 12m eur and after some dreadful matches, as well as a season full with brainfarts, buying him was not an option, even less for 12m eur.
Almost like having an option this summer to buy Motta for 5m. Would you do it? Of course not, even if last summer that would have been regarded a great deal.

Are we linked at all with Dzsudzsak from PSV? Instead of Sanchez on the left, why not opt for this guy? If Im not mistaken, he's got a EU passport which saves our lone non EU spot. If he's a cheaper alternative, then I'd settle for him instead of getting raped by Udinese on the bargaining table.

Because going for the cheaper option often means going for the player who will add less to the team. Ultimately, we're trying to get the best talents in the world.

Domestic players like Sánchez have no effect on the non-EU spot.
