Del Piero is a great sportsman no doubt, even won awards for his sportsmanship. However I am still less than impressed with the way Chiellini has led the team and displayed his leadership abilities. Commitment is always there but he has a ways to go in regards to his leadership presence, can hardly even lead his back line. I know he can't do it alone and he's easily our best defender but like I said, his leadership has always been questionable for me.

Marchisio was relatively (by the team's standards), very good the season before last. And he won't play if there's someone better than him.

Never. I was saying I'm less than impressed with the way Chiellini acts after we loose matches. ADP never looks happy. Gigi always looks fucking pissed. Chiellini on the other hand is all smiles, having a great time after we loose. I love him, one of my favorite players at current Juve, but that shit infuriates me to no end.

I was saying that Chiellini will be the future captain after Gigi. He should really start acting like it. I don't give a damn if he's not from the Juventus golden era, he's got big shoes to fill. Everyone loves to point out how Marchisio is a less than ideal captain(to which i agree with to an extent), but he's never going to get the armband before Chiellini. Let's stop shitting on him every chance we get because people here think it's the "cool" thing to do.

On the other hand why don't we try holding all the players to that high standard Juventus requires as opposed to just ragging on a youth player who actually made it because it's the in thing to do on Tuz.

Buffon was actually smiling and laughing after the Milan game. It's just a symptom of the team's sickness. Doesn't make Buffon, DP or Chiellini bad leaders.

Montero? He would have headbutted someone of he had to put up with those kind of performances week in and week out.

Chiellini needs to be more vocal IMO.

Edit for late post. It's hard to compare an era like that with what we have now. Juve had leaders from the back to the front and throughout the team. We're comparing the most successful era with one of the worst. In times like these it's when he really needs to step forth as a leader and be counted.

That shit simply would not be acceptable. Del Piero is a fantastic leader, should he really have to go back and organize the defense too? I don't watch Inter so I can't comment on ZAnetti.

At the end of the day we can compare Chiellini to past greats but those were two completely different eras. In a time like now when we have very few true leaders, and we still depend on a 35 or 36 year old Del Piero it's much more important that players from the new generation stand up and be counted. Because DP and Buffon won't be around forever.

Unless Chiellini can organize the defense with telepathy then I don't know.

The defensive unit of a football team relies on organization and cohesion. Without those qualities you may as well be pissing into the wind. Like I said about two posts ago, he's easily our best defender and he can't do it alone. However, if he isn't going to organize the back line who is? Del Piero? Don't make go all Lo-Pan and start ho ho ho'ing in this thread.

Were Inter after Danilo? It was Jonathan they were after, no? The RB. Danilo is CM/DM (where he plays for Santos) that can play RB, but not too well on the latter. Used to play it, but Jonathan is the starter there. Good switch, much better as box to box mid.
