that's the same thing everyone just loves repeating as proof of how great Chiellini is. The thing is that Chiellini has what is needed to stop a big-bodied and relatively slow player like Ibra, who relies more on overpowering his opponent than craftily moving around him - Chiellini has physical presence.

Stopping a nimble, fast and creative forwards, however, requires ability to read the game, anticipate what's gonna happen on the field and react to it before it even happened since it would be too late, otherwise ... this is why Chiellin looks so helpless, way too often, vs such players.

He is way too simplistic and one-dimensional of a player to be considered great.
I didn't mention he was great, I mearly said why I love him :)

remember the first goal at genoa well what he did there is one of the basic things a cb shouldn't do it is one of the first things they learn to a cb

for me if he wants to stay he should stay as lb for life we have found a balance this way
he shouldn't go back to cb

and as lb is different than a cb
and his errors don't look to bad now that he plays lb because when a cb makes an error you let your opponent in front of the keeper and when a lb makes an error than there are still the cb so even when he makes mistakes it goes a bit unnoticed and do not cost us a lot

Chiellini have been very error-prone but Bonucci will never ever be anywhere near Chiellini's ability however bad Chiellini ever plays. Even in his worst form Chiellini is mighty superior to Bon. This year Chiellini has been more error-prone that recent years but most likely due to his position. First 10 games in his LB position he was misplaced and positioned wrong all the time but he has gotten (re)used to the position and does a decent job. I'd be veeery happy if we could grab a good LB and get Bon on the bench and Chiellini as CB once again. Chiellini in LB is a short term sollution and everyone knows it, even Bonucci. I don't even think Bonucci has the mentality to be on the top-stage. I could very well be wrong, just a feeling, but I feel like his lacking the mental strength to cope with the pressure. Although he has responded "decently" to all the anger from me and everyone else right now. But even so, sure, he's doing better now than earlier this season but he still stinks. Stinks bad. Doing an OK game against Novara at home is not something I can rely on.
just so you know the one who made an ok game against novara was chiellini
bonucci didn't play

and i will keep saying it chiellini the top cb is a lb he started playing cb in serie b and maintained that position afterwards
there is a diference from those who have played cb all their life and those who are adapted
