in all fairness, LD isn't exactly a top player either - a top talent, a potential star yes, but not a top player yet and it's anybody's guess how he would adapt to Europe, should he move.
... at least Kalou has been tested and performed well in at top level football in Europe. Sure he isn't one of them great players out there but is far from being bad either - would be a solid transfer, even better if he is free.
