By all accounts, he's best as AMC/SS just behind the CF.

-edit. Speaking of which, if we were to buy him, just what sort of formation are we going for if we're trying to fit Pirlo and a LW at the same time?

Can anyone update me, which players won't be with us next season because their contracts expire. I think it is more important who is leaving rather than who is coming. Because we have quite some players who shouldn't be in our team at all.

Agreement reached with Liverpool for Aquilani. 10 Million. Up to Conte to decide if he wants him.
No thanks, don't see the need for him. If this valuation is true, then it's because Liverpool know how average he is and so should our board, why waste 10 million on a squad player.

Aqua on form is worth the 10m...
but he has been completely average over the full course of the season. If the rumours are true and we plan to sign Inler, then you'd have to imagine that Inler, Pirlo and Marchisio would start ahead of him whether we're playing a 4-3-3, 4-4-2 or this crazy 4-2-4 formation. There's no way Conte would be foolish enough to play both Aqua and Pirlo at the same time in any of the formations mentioned, therefore he'd just be an expensive bench warmer. The lack of European football also rules out the need for more squad depth.

What about grygera, when does his contract expire?
2012, I think. He'll probably be released this summer. Then again, we've been thinking that for a while now!

He was good in the first half of the season. On that sort of form he displaced Marchisio from CM, so I don't see how you're under the impression Marchisio would start ahead of him in a 4-4-2 with proper wingers this time barring a "shift to the left" for him (Marchisio). Pirlo/Marchisio and Pirlo/Aquilani are just as flimsy as one another and won't work, anyway.

With Inler in the mix, even in a 4-3-3, Marchisio should struggle to get in. Ideally.
