What's great about Conte is that he thinks of Juve as Juve were pre-Farsopoli. Ranieri, Del Neri, and our dear Marotta forgot that about us and it reflected on our signings.

edit: Fuckin Ranieri preferred Poulsen over Xabi :sergio:

I think Ranieri just isn't good enough to win but got good results and Del Neri was simply incompetent. Our GM's have been below par as far as top teams are concerned though.

I always thought that was Secco. I doubt Xabi would've picked us over Real anyways.

Real wasn't in the picture when we were after him iirc and Xabi was actually willing to join us. We were playing in the CL at the time and we had finished runners up in the league.

Juventus chief Blanc: Ranieri chose Poulsen over Xabi

Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Thu, 10/28/2010 - 00:40

Juventus GM Jean-Claude Blanc has explained the signing of Christian Poulsen.

The Dane was unpopular among fans and the media before his move to Liverpool.

“Claudio Ranieri made the decision,” said Blanc. “We told him both options were open: Poulsen or Xabi Alonso.

“After a few days the technical staff confirmed their decision was in favour of the Dane and so we signed the player who was most congenial to Ranieri’s style.”

Not the best source but they didn't cook the quotes. I originally read this somewhere else but couldn't find where but a quick google search got me this.
