What is there to negate?

The obvious quality in players like Conceicao, Douglas Luiz, Koop, Thuram... The nice setup for the Kalulu deal and the work on the financial side for example.

Some obvious negatives are a thin squad (punished by injuries) and the lack of class with which we've been handling some goodbyes.
