Oh, I know. I was just mentioning how envious I am that Liverpool can call on the services of that duo. I guess the phrasing made it seem I was implying he was an enforcer. I want a Prime Vidal type player in Juve's midfield, but I understand that's highly improbable. Nonetheless, I don't want mediocre freebies, undesirables, geezers, and players who collapse at the first sign of contact. I guess some sort of compromise would be nice.
I see what you mean. It is nice to be able set up our midfield depending on the opponent and still maintain quality.

Call me crazy but I would accept Willian for free or cheap. We could use depth in wide players who can beat their man even if they aren't world class

I'm sick of an injury to Costa and then suddenly no width whatsoever.

Nah. What mid-season, January signing became a mainstay? None that I can think of.

We’re in this dire midfield situation because of summer signings.

Maybe we should spring for a big signing in January if anyone good becomes available. Certainly would be the year to do it, with no one looking all that dominant in CL.

But who am I kidding. We’ll get some mediocre rubbish on loan and call it good.
Yeah I mean our midfield signings in general not just January panic buys

Many people thought khedira and Matuidi were short term fillers/market opportunities and here we are in 2019 and they're both first choice

Now we have more market opportunities in Raboit who never plays and an injury prone Ramsey who is second fiddle to fucking Berna.

We chase world class attackers and defenders but we're content year after year with whatever we can get our hands on in the middle of the field. It's kind of ridiculous.

So how about go sign a quality early to mid 20s winger? You know a player you can build on and have his peak years of.

Willian was never all that but he is nearly finished in a year or two.

What’s most frustrating is that we aren’t just cheap when it comes to signing midfielders, we are also dumb.

We signed Khedira and Ramsey - two injury prone players, both were 28 years old when signed, and both on high wages.
We signed Matuidi, a 30 year old player who relies almost entirely on his engine and is virtually useless if not for his stamina.
We signed Can and put him on ridiculous wages, a player that wasn’t good enough to get ahead of Khedira in the German NT even when Khedira was declining.

Dumb investment after dumb investment, and our board thinks that they are so clever.

The only smart investment we have made in recent years is Bentancur. He was cheap, young, and on low wages. He was a low risk buying that is turning out to be quite good.

Honestly, if the board are so fixated on not spending big money on the midfield, they should at least try more Bentancurs instead of old players on high wages.

I'd say Khedira was a fine signing, being free, on not-so-bad wages when we first signed him, and he'd at least been a class player in the past before his injuries with lots of success. He was never going to be Vidal level obviously, but he was quite good for us his first two years here, and serviceable his third, helping us to three straight domestic doubles, and a CL final. But then we bizarrely renew at even higher wages last year, when it's clear (regardless of whether one likes him or not) that he's in decline and no longer starter quality.

Can is absurd, because even on a free, we immediately put him on ridiculous wages, wages which his history could never suggest he deserves.

Ramsey could end up being a good signing like Khedira if we can have him mostly injury free for 2-3 years like we did with Sami. He's a fantastic player when fit and would do wonders for connecting our mid to attack. But if he's mostly injured, than it's a gamble that will fail us pretty badly, and will be a big part of why our mid won't be CL winning worthy this year and next.

We had problems in midfield. We added Ramsey and Rabiot. And counted on Bentacur developing further. Yet the midfield looks as disjointed and incoherent as last year.

Our defense was shaky at the end of last season. We added De Ligt and Demiral. Yet the defense is as shaky if not shakier than last season.

No signs of the coach improving anything thus far. Additions to both weak departments came in. Results remained the same.

January market we might address both gaps again most likely on the cheap or medium price range. No evidence that this coach will get any more out of an extra midfielder or defender than he is currently.

I think we should wait till End of Season and if we dont see improvement, sack the coach. Buy in Jan only if a great opportunity/steal comes across. A purchase we would have wanted to make even if we were firing on all cylinders because its just a steal. Dont buy any Sarri type players that other coaches wouldnt use.

For the love of god get someone of quality for the middle. CAM, winger, CM I don't care but ffs consult with Sarri on what he is trying to do, what sort of player could fulfill the role and spend what it takes.

This is salvageable but if we don't act then fuuuuuuuu
