I'd be fine with that. He's not a priority at this point in time. Our midfield is the area of main concern - we are highly unlikely to win the CL without significant investments there.

We arent touching midfield mid season with 7 CMs in the roster. Sadly so, but quite true. Only thing that might happen is lateral stuff like trading Can for Paredes.

Unfortunately we cannot afford him atm. Neither in terms of costs, nor in terms of playing time. We should be concentrated on streamlining this team first and as many boxes as this boy ticks for us, we need other players so we can start playing with some fluidity.
Very difficult to achieve with mid-season buys, unless they've played here before.

To be honest the list of our ex players that still could be useful is very short. I'd say: Pogba, Vidal and Kean.

The sad thing is even if Vidal is old and a bit washed up he would still get into our starting mid without a problem...
Kean return would be weird as we either believe or not in his potential..

Leave emotions aside, we don't need a Kante type. Pogba-type is needed like food and air.

Kante is not a btb midfielder. He's either a DM in 4-3-3 or double pivot in 4-2-3-1. He doesn't have the technique, physical presence, finishing, last pass to be a more advanced midfielder. Sarri was heavily criticized for using him as btb last year and he struggled this year under Lampard when played there.
