Well I think a lot of the transfer market nowadays is influenced by things not pertaining to the player's talent. SMS is largely anonymous outside of Italy and the absence of a bidding war should keep his price well below $80M in my eyes.

But then there is Lotito.

Dybala type replacement? Far from it, he is strictly a fairly Jack of all trades solid CM, physically imposing and intelligent but not that skillful.

If Juventus are even willing to pay anywhere near 80m for a single player im pretty sure SMS isn't the one ... only way this could happen is in some crazy scenario where Pjanic leaves for a huge sum and we panic buy this guy in last week of mercato... even than id be doubtfull because with Bentancur in our ranks, the most id expect is us to buy a older,more experienced CM, anyhow is gonna be someone cheaper.

1. SMS will not come for 80M
a Because he isnt worth that kind of sum
b because I believe he will be available for 60M as there is no justification for 80M tag...

2. If we bolster our mid with 80M SMS is good but we might be able to do better with 80M...

This is what really irritates me sometimes on tuz. We've been in 2 finals for the last 3 seasons, revenue is growing, the brand has been changed to bolster it, we are gonna have even fricking Netflix series and still, there are some tuzers who think our board lacks ambition. The hell do you want them to say? Do you want them to sound like boards of napoli, roma, inter or other mediocre teams? Like each year in october "we are gonna win scudetto", "scudetto is ours" etc. and then they wake up in the may with shit all over their beds? And that's when scudetto is a "low-pace" tournament, you can almost always come up for mistakes in one-two games while in CL it's impossible.

he won U19 Euro and U20 WC - with Serbia. i dont think hes unknown to GMs around

Regardless of his international pedigree or quality on/off the ball , he will never be worth more than 50M in Italy. Premier League is a different story tho... anyway i dont see Juve overpaying for this guy whyle there are other better alternatives if we do are willing to overpay for a CM.

i know its still too early, but i honestly dont see us sign a better mid than Sergej. maybe Kovacic if he leaves Madrid, which is unlikely imo
