Marotta: "We are close to completing the deal for Caldara. We will be looking for a top midfielder in the summer."

Juventus & Inter are following the situation of Marco Verratti, who's valued at €100m & his salary is €7m/yr. [GdS]

If Marotta is not qualified and the players he signs are Palermo's level, why are we so successful and Palermo are doing so bad year after year? Conte and Allegri are footie wizards?
Because other teams are unspeakably bad and harsh truth shows itself every time we face a half-decent squad. Marotta'a biggest chance was Conte. He is an exceptional coach and should have been our Ferguson. Now that him and the players he brought are not here anymore and replaced with turds like mandzukic and hernanes, we can't even win against minions of serie a comfortably.

just because galliani is biggest clown, it doesn't make having second biggest clown in charge of our club ok. this club have much more potential, we should be equal to likes of barcelona and bayern in terms of squad quality and spending power and i want to see it. but you can't win f1 with a friggin taxi driver even if you have best car.

Mandžukič used to be CL winning Bayerns starting CF, why don't you like him?

Again, Marotta is hardly acquiring Palermo level players and you know it.

He isn't performing half as good now and we should have been extra careful about why did both Bayern and Atletico decided to get rid of him.

You can't buy a Rincon at Madrid. If you buy it, not only you lose your job immediately but also interrogated by financial police. To me, if a player can't play in Madrid, he also shouldn't be able play for Juventus.

What is this? Palermo's mercato?

$#@! happens when you put a person who isn't as qualified as a grocer in charge.
Its tough to find a player in the Winter transfer window who is A) World Class; B) Who's selling team is willing to let them go mid way through the season; and C) Not cup-tied. Hence, never a good idea to spend big $$ in the winter for someone who is not ideal. Rincon and Gustavo would be fine. Even just Rincon would be ok given the lack of opportunities out there in this window.

Of course you can buy a Rincon at Madrid, remember Gravesen? :D Perez signed him and he's been their general for 13 of the last 16 years

Gustavo is not required though. That would be signing someone just for the sake of it.

Interesting reflecting on this article. Tevez moving to China makes sense given his age and knowing that he has achieved so much in his career. However, it is weird that players like Oscar and Witsel would make this choice. They are pretty much throwing their careers away. The standard of football in China is worse than the USA or many other of these countries that lure these top players. This is because each CSL club can only have 4 non Asian foreigners on their squads with the rest being Chinese nationals. China has failed to qualify for the last few world cups and are not even close to the levels of Korea and Japan in terms of their local talent. Of course this will eventually change, but not within the time span of their careers.

So then there is the money. Lets take Witsel. Apparently we were willing to offer him a salary of 4.5m. The Chinese club will offer 18m. However, in Italy they speak of NET salary while in China they are quoting gross figures. So in effect he would be earning 2.5x what he would earn in Italy. When his contract expires, he will be 31, nobody in China will want him because they will be chasing the next big thing for their 4 foreigners a side quota and no-one in Europe will want him either. He will go back and earn far less than he did in Europe. If he went to Europe or England etc, over the course of his carreer he probably would have earned similar amount then.

So over the course of his career, he will probably earn marginally more and achieved nothing. Oscar's situation is even worse.

As I said, if you are in your early to mid 30s, it makes total sense.

My point is, not only are these players who go to China throwing their careers away, I would also argue that they are not getting that much more financially if they leave at too young an age. Poor decision making and poor advice from their greedy agents.

Juventuz forum has unreal delusion when it comes to player salaries.

People probably still believe that Pogba left for United for a marginally higher salary I guess.

Pogba left for double the salary AFTER tax AND he got a big cut of the transfer commission too. Although the salary in itself was not the only factor. It is the EPL afterall and one could take a view that ManU will be all powerfull etc at some point in his career. Lets not forget that we were also offering Pogba more money.

It also depends on the taxes in China. In Italy 9m means 4.5m net but in China 18m might be around 10m net so not a big difference when you are already rich as fuck (tho I might be wrong on the taxes). Anyway this article is completly true. Tevez is understandable, Witsel is really stupid decision for a player in his peak. Oscar is just something different this guy's decision is just pathetic, talented still young guy who chooses such a offer is complete garbage for me.

Im hoping Rincon can be to us of what Casemiro was to Real. He could either be one of the signings of the season or just another washaway mediocre player. Either way, i'm glad we're taking this risk.
