imo Zenit won't release Witsel for peanuts, because they are way too proud for that, probably signs for us in the summer
Bentancur and Kessie are too inexperienced to help us straight away in CL, besides Kessie goes to AFCON, again, would be good for next season if they join in January
Dahoud isn't the most experienced player either and I haven't watched him at all, but he seems like the only one that could give us some kind of boost already this season

That's why we shouldn't buy anyone in January just for the sake of it. Going along with that "lack of muscle" trend in our midfield we can just field Lemina or Sturaro.

true, forgot Gladbach are in CL. so from the names listed, only Witsel is useful in CL.
Zenit atm are 2nd in RPL, 2 points behind Spartak who have played one game less than Zenit, their season is hardly over

Both will 100% not going to happen but 1 of them might although a midfield of Marchisio;Verratti Pjanic;James sounds like a dream midfield...

I think this past summer we saw weirder things like the Pogba/Higuain deals.... so i would not rule out anything. I have the feeling Verrati can be convinced about coming here...but yes is highly unreal.

Anyways, i think the board will try to do a deal like this because this current season we all got convinced our midfield is simply not CL winner material....and since we have some real good forwards....we can try to upgrade our midfield next and see what happens.

I don't worry at all.

We have plenty of time to get replacements, and we already brought in Rugani.

Bonucci (29) and Benatia (29) could be with us for another 5 years,
Chiello (32) with all his injuries, another 2-3 years, Barza one more year.

Bonucci-Rugani could be our to go CB's for years to come, same with Alex Sandro at LB, and with a little luck Lirola turns out to be our new RB.

I find it hard to worry about our defense department.
