Yep. We could also put Pjanic highter on the pitch if we had one world class DM behind him and true wing midfielders, or even three WC MC behind pjanic as AM. But with only axial midfielders our flanks would be as inneffective as they are now.

Matuidi would add something we dont have, and he would be a good squad player. That doesent mean we should go for him. Witsel is almost certainly coming this winter or next summer. That means we would add two players who would not improve our starting 11 now or in the future, while using 40 mil. of transfer funds and raising the wage bill with 15-20 mil.
It might be hard to lure the Saul, Dahoud, Verattis of the world to Juve, but if we do sign Witsel and Matuidi, we can forget signing them for certain.

I'm not advocating the Matuidi signing nor do I think we'll sign him just making the point that he would add something to our team in terms of qualities. We were never looking to sign both Matuidi and Witsel, at the moment it's quite certain that the latter will come.

What we do spend and what we are able to spend are not necessarily the same.

60-80 mill is more than possible for Juve. However we would probably spend that on 5 players instead of 1.
